Online Banking / Long Queues

I just nipped round the bank to pay a cheque in. The queue was about 25 deep and almost coming out of the door onto the street. Luckily I had the wherewithall to use one of the auto paying in machines so squeezed in to use that.

I think banks are discouraging people from going in them at all - and the business banking rates are now geared to virtually compell you to doing things online.

Is this a good or bad thing do you reckon? I am unsure myself
