New Laptop.....
Hi Guys,
Looking to get a new (work) laptop, dont want to spend anything over £2k, it will be replacing my current HP nx9105
Things it must have:
DVD +/- RW
Card reader (minimum SD and MS)
XP Pro
WiFi G/B
Bluetooth
15" screen (17" is too big for a laptop for what i use it for, but dont mind a WSXGA like my current one)
Suggestions / links?
Cheers

Nice I don't think it has bluetooth though (but some of the other models do). Oh, and the one I got requires a usb mouse, so if you don't have one, get one to avoid having to use the annoying trackpad.

Re: New Laptop.....
Mother-in-law recently bought an Acer laptop, it's a very nice piece of kit. The WIFI hard-key next to the power button is a nice touch, and useful for quickly connecting to a hotspot, as is the nice blue LED that confirms the 'puter is communicating with it.

Re: New Laptop.....
I've got an Acer as well.
Aspire 2023, very good.
Bit heavy but that's mainly due to the wide screen on it.

One point I never really got over was the annoying keyboard layouts IBM insisted of presenting.... it was so damn annoying fumbling around those dodgy keys and layout
over-priced bolders if you ask me, esp compared to the competition...unless you can get them through a IBM discount scheme

hmm interesting, IBM has one many awards for its, keyboards.. unles you were unlucky enough to get an american one Im surprised you had a problem.
They are expensive, but then again, i don't know of anyo ther laptops that have titanium shells......
do a google search for legends of thinkpads, and you will see why they keep getting sent up into space.
IMHO Laptops like Dell etc are so tacky, I have supported them and found most of the time things kept falling off them, especially the small ones with externals drives!
but everyone has there own favourites, thats the fun of life..

I've got Win 98 and XP Pro running on mine alongside OS X quite happily.
