Another silly conversation at work.....

In the office today, we were talking about biscuits - as you do - when someone mentionned Party Rings. It took us all a while to remember the name of Party Rings, but we finally got there.

However, nobody can remember the name of the biscuits that were like Party Rings but without the hole in the middle. They also had a coffee flavour bit to the icing on the top.

Anyone know what they were/are called? If so, I could get a cuppa tea made for me tomorrow morning

Re: Another silly conversation at work.....

The biscuits that you are looking for are called "cafe noir" They are still made but you might have to hunt a bit to find someone who sells them.

Re: Another silly conversation at work.....

Thanks AndrewJames, but these aren't the ones... the Party Rings have a hole in the middle, whereas these other ones don't.

Soneill, I think you're almost there.... except CafÃÃâ€*’© Noir are only coffee flavoured, and these ones were 3-flavoured... a bit more like neopolitan ice cream - except in biscuit form

Thanks anyway, but it looks liek I'll be making my own tea tomorrow

Actually, I think they're called Iced Shorties, I just can't seem to find a picture of them anywhere at the moment.....

Sigh! I remember cafe noir, the height of 50s sophistication.

Re: Another silly conversation at work.....

Could it be playbox. Similar to Party rings but I think they had different shapes. There was a different little picture of a toy on the icing side, e.g. train, soldier and the occasional letter I think. Very long time since I've seen them but I think they were made by one of the big manufacturers.

edit. Before MLM responds, playbox isn't afaik a slang term for any acts :-)

I just found this pic. They're selling the old biscuit tins and it was Peak Freans that made them.
