Ebay question?
Im planing to have a bit of a clearout here as the sheer ammount of computer junk I have is starting to spill out of my room and into the spare room (Mum and Dad not best pleased).
Im gonna sell it all on ebay as it looks like I have a good few hundred pounds worth of stuff here but I am wondering something.
I have sold on ebay before but always been Cash on delivery, when somone pays me via paypal how do I know? do the funds clear straight away or do they come in at a predeffined date each month?
Another little question I have is...
Should I post by royal mail, third party or Collection only? (most of the goods are very light though I do have a monitor and an old PC I will be selling aswel).

Re: Ebay question?
Paypal send you an email as soon as the money is paid, then you transfer it to your bank account.
As for postage, depends on the weight and the value. I'd say Royal mail for the smaller items and then have a look at http://www.parcel2go.com/ I've used them and they are very efficient.
Edit- you can also pay for parcels2go with paypal

Re: Ebay question?
If someone pays by paypal it is received into your paypal account immediately. You can then transfer the money to your normal bank account which takes 3 working days. I believe it is free to transfer more than £50 but there is a charge for under that amount. What i normally do is sell my stuff and keep the money in paypal until i think i'll need it, then just transfer as a lump sum. This way, if i going to buy something from ebay the money is already in the paypal account, and doesn't need to be funding from my current account/ credit card and this just saves me transferring back and forwards.
I usually post by royal mail, collection only will make your auction restricted to people in your local area, and i personally don't bother with this at all. If an item is heavy, make it clear in the auction that they can either pay for delivery or collect and then that way you don't eliminate any potential buyers.
Royal mail insured delivery is best, a little bit more expensive, but at least you can prove an item has been delivered if a buyer falsely claims that it was never received

Re: Ebay question?
Thanks, both of you answered my questions and answereda question I was about to ask
Now time for me to take an inventory of what I have and to get some pictures together, mostly I'll be selling RAM and hdd's from the looks of it. I know one of the hdds is broken but Is still under warranty so I'll mention this in the advert.
Green reps on the way

Re: Ebay question?
Note - never use Parcel2Go - just have a read through the endless tales of woe regarding that outfit on the eBay user forums.
I can however recommened using Staples - the office place - as long as you take the parcel to them it's £8.99 insured next day (via DHL) for up to 30kgs.

Re: Ebay question?
I was also thinking about selling some stuff on ebay, and sorry if this seems like thread hi-jacking but I wanted to know what all the costs involved with selling an item are?
