What exactly have you done to muck it up? any idea?

Just total reformat, followed by clean install of Op. system including all critical updates.

On account logon it is telling me i have an outstanding email, but nothing shows in my mail client.

I am using Xp pro/sp1, mail client is O.Express.

Any tips??

Do you have AOL, or msn messenger loaded, they can mess with this feature!

Somtimes when other members of my family are on the computer i get the same. for example i get "1 Unread Mail Message" underneth my user name but it isn't my e mail i'ts one of my famalies e mails.

Annoying really
