Question unable to access Argos site via broadband

Cannot access www.argos.co.uk via my broadband (from glasgow). I can access it immediately if I use a dialup account. All I get is a message that I am not authorised to view the site.

Anyone else having the same problem and any suggestions as to how to solve it.

Any help greatfully received.

John

Could be a proxy problem maybe, have you tried specifying a different Proxy?

Re: unable to access Argos site via broadband

Thanks, for that but i still have no access when using the broadband connection. I know others from other parts of the country have no problem, but it seems to only be affecting broadband users usining the renfrew nodes. Technical help insists that they have no problem as they can access thje site. unfortunetly I do.

Re: unable to access Argos site via broadband

Broadband support via medic, have no received a number of other complaints about this from my area and think it might be a proxy problem.

Smile Re: unable to access Argos site via broadband

Hi, temporary fixed. Argos available again

I had to set the Lan settings to:-

Automatically detect settings on (ticked)

Use a proxy server (ticked) and set to

213.105.224.11 Port 80

I was told that this is what they were trying to do via broadband medic, which told them, it had set them to the above, but which had not. after I set them the site worked.

I've been told to uncheck the Use a Proxy Server in a couple of weeks once they resolve the problem.

Does anyone know if the Automatically detect settings be always ticked ?

Re: unable to access Argos site via broadband

for those in Glasgow who are having a problem try the following:-

In IE explorer Try going tools, internet options, conection Lan settings. put tick in 1st box and in proxy server put a tick in then enter 213.105.224.11 and port 80.

that should work

It should be left un-ticked.
