I have just moved to ntl cable from terrestial aerial. All the engineer told me was that in order to record programs I needed my recorder to be on the AV2 channel (A2). although that works what he didn't tell me was that any changes to my cable channel from my handset gets reflected onto my recorder so that if I start recording a BBC1 channel then subsequently switch my TV to BBC2 then my BBC1 recording also switches to BBC2 at the same time. This cannot be right....Help

Hi Tony, welcome to the site. I'm afraid it is right. You cannot record a cable channel while watching another. The only 'solution' is to use your aerial, and install the terrestial channels on your tv channels 1 to 5, so you can watch one of these while recording the cable channel.

Not actually the only solution. You could also get a second STB, but obviously this will cost you another £15 month.
