RGB auto detect problem

I have a Samsung STB connected via a panasonic E50 DVD recorder to my TV. All connected via SCART and set to work as RGB.

The problem I have is that with the panasonic off the TV doesn't detect that the STB is set to RGB.... I have to skip through a few channels on the STB, then the TV locks to RGB. Anyone else seen this type of problem with the Samsung? (the pace was OK, and the samsung is OK straight into the TV, so I thinks it's a combination of things going on here).

Anyway, as I always use my TV in RGB I think I can force it to RGB by wiring pin 16 of the SCART HI? Anyone tried this?

Thanks

Re: RGB auto detect problem

I assume that you are using quality cables (SCART) with RGB pins wired and not the cheapo S***e that comes with STB/DVD players etc.

I know my SONY DVD player acted in the same way and in the end I opted for a SCART splitter that offered true RGB support on all sockets

EDIT: This was with a SKY box (inc. PLUS as well)

Pin 16 requires +4V, so I'm not sure where you are going to find that. I expect the Samsung box is putting out +4V anyway. Have you got a multimeter?
