Re: Space Dust
what you want to do is look for an old fashioned sweet shop, that still sells from jars in pounds and ounces
...woolworths used to sell it as well, worth a look maybe?

Shame! there was a stall in the market at Gosport selling this out of a jar.
Don't see sweetie jars anymore. It's all prepackaged these days and kids have a hard time finding a shopkeeper who will bother with penny sweets.

Re: Space Dust
There's still a shop in Tamworth (like 1 left!) that sells all the old sweets there, some times I pop in because the old sweets are better than the new ones

Re: Space Dust
What a disappointment. I thought this thread was about tonight's meteor shower

Edit: On a serious note: If you want to see 'shooting stars', tonight is the night. I just saw one in the garden while smoking a fag. If you're lucky enough to not have to much ambient light, you could see them coming in once a minute (look north-north east). They can be quite spectacular.

Re: Space Dust
The original Space Dust product was called "Pop Rocks" (in the USA) and the company that made it eventually suffered because of unfounded rumours in the media that too much of it (plus fizzy drinks) would make your stomach rupture. Of course the press ran away with the story and they were reportedly taken off the market for a while.
Recently a couple of guys, on some wacky programme I saw on tv, tested out this theory out on a dead pig stomach and proved that it just could not happen.

There's no space dust there but still great for other childhood traditional sweeties. I've ordered stuff from these people before and their service is super.
(Orange, Lemon or Lime crystals anyone? Mmm nice!).
