What can i use to create SVCDs and KVCDs?

I have a couple of movies saved on my HD in SVCD and KVCD format, but i can't find any software to create cds from them...

I have tried easy cd creator, direct cd, clonecd, and nero but no success. With nero i nearly get there, but i get a message saying that i need to purchase the software for the feature to be available. annoying seeing as it is a genuine copy that came with a CDRW drive that i bought.

Anyone know where i can find free software that will do this for me?

Cheers

could you re-record in another format? like movie maker, then burn it onto a cd?

get all the help you need from there.

software you need are:

audiodub
tmpgenc
nero or similar (nero needs a plug-in to do svcd)

and lots of time.

You need VCDGear. It is a freeware util that does everything VCD. It creates a disk image from .mpgs, it gets mpegs out of VCD disk images, everything. Once you create the .bin disk image, you can use Nero, etc, to burn them.

http://www.vcdgear.com/

It is fairly simple. Load it up, and click on the "VideoCD" button. Choose "MPG -> Bin/Cue" in the conversion bombo, click add track, to add the mpg files, and then hit start.

Re: What can i use to create SVCDs and KVCDs?

In Nero, uncheck "Standards compliant" to burn a ?VCD from a file that is encoded in a way that is not 100% standard - in fact, you often have to do that anyway, as Nero is WAY too fond of re-encoding if it takes the tiniest dislike to the format supplied - an particularly for MPEG2 (SVCD, which you have to buy), their codec is not the best - in fact, it's about the worst!

What is KVCD?

"K Video Compression Dynamics"

KVCD is a modification to the standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 GOP structure and Quantization Matrix. It enables you to create over 120 minutes of near DVD quality video, depending on your material, on a single 80 minute CD-R/CD-RW. We have published these specifications as KVCDx3, our official resolution, which produce 528x480 (NTSC) and 528x576 (PAL) MPEG-1 variable bit rate video, from 64Kbps to 3,000Kbps. Using a resolution of 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL), it's possible to encode video up to ~360 minutes of near VCD quality on a single 80 minute CD-R. The mpeg files created will play back in most modern standalone DVD players. You must burn the KVCD MPEG files as non-standard VCD or non-standard SVCD (depends on your player) with Nero or VCDEasy.

Using KVCD parameters to create DVDs (KDVD), will enable you to create 100% DVD compliant MPEG-2 streams, capable of playing on any standard DVD player. This will allow you to put up to about 6 hours Full D-1 720x480 on one DVD, or about 10 hours at Half D-1 352x480.
