Re: Netvigator Wireless BB

Neil and all.........

I am working at a shopping complex in Reading, Berks where these have a demostration stand selling their products. They are doing a 1 month free trial for all services. After the month, if it's not convinced you then you simply send it back.... The deal sound good, too good perhaps? I live in Reading and wanted to give it a go, however. My postal code is not yet covered. My acuall post code covers a very large area in Reading. I was disapointed that I was not able to try this out....... Other bad points are:
  • LOW MAX upload speed of only 128Kb/s
  • ONLY supplied with 5 POP Mail Accounts
  • NO personal Webspace

As Reading is probably the largest, most popular Town/City in the Thames Valley it seems silly that one of Readings largest post code areas can't get the service?????

Until they sort something out this is to be continued.............

Re: Netvigator Wireless BB

There's another option....

I am part of an expanding community wireless network called the Feeed Mesh Network Club. We have two 'Feeed Nodes' in Reading now, one on Tilehurst Road and another in Hogarth Avenue.

Some of the good points of our service are:

1) We're not in it for the money, we're a not-for-profit club
2) Membership is £6.95 a month
3) We can supply you with some webspace.
3) Upload speed is 256Kbit/s same as ADSL.
4) As its a club, you can help shape what we do.
5) You can use any other Feeed Node in the the Feeed Mesh.... there are Feeed Nodes in Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne, Reading, Northampton, Rayleigh (Essex), and Merseyside.
6) You don't need to use special wireless equipment, we use standard 802.11b kit
7) You can use it in the garden/park/street with your laptop

And if you already have ADSL then you can become a Feeed Node Owner and start your own wireless neighbourhood.

All the details are at http://www.feeed.com

Cheers
Russell
