It could be that they are testing the multiplex being used. Before Jazz FM launched in London, they broadcasted bird sounds, and the bird sounds actually got better listening figures than the station...

grum1978. thats the first thing that came into my mind.

i thought it was the sound they use, it does sound like it. then about 20mins into listening to it i heard about 4 gun shots and then it went totally quite and then it came back on again lol.

then i thought, maybe ive hooked onto someones wireless mic or something like that.

no i think i get all the best ones, Radio City, Radio One, Century FM, Talksport, Virgin, Rock FM etc... Plus loads of locals like Merseyside, The Buzz, Juice and Magic etc... I don't really know how many more i would need but ones with birds singing in them well you know it aint exactly something most people would want. DAB sounds to me like all these +1 channels, radio stations no1 ever listens too! No wonder DAB isnt taking off lol!

I think the main reason for why it isnt taking off is because of 2 things.

- price
- advertising. - you may have heard advertising on the radio but have you seen any on tv?

They aint taking off because of price full stop. For the price you can get a DAB radio, you can have yourself a mid-range hi-fi with like 240watt RMS output and 3 cd's etc...

And the fact you can get all the crappy channels on digital TV does not help. And the fact that all the stations any1 ever listens to are available on FM/AM radio's who is going to move over to DAB to hear birds singing
