terrynewpack is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

Both parents now 'formal suspects' in the death of their daughter yet they still have custody of their remaining children.

I would suspect a return to the UK anytime soon might just push our own Social Services into some sort of action.

You do understand what the portugese mean by "formal suspect" don't you because it's not the same as what we mean with suspects in the UK

I don't think it's like that to be honest. But from what I've read on here, there are people that say the parent's DON'T have anything to do with the disappearance, and there's some that say that they DO have something to do with it.

I have a problem with both of those views, no one can say anything till the evidence and proof is shown, speculation is just that - pointless (but good converstation / discussion).

From the way things are going, there must be a high number of people wanting the parents to be charged and found guilty, not out of anything nasty, maybe just a dislike to them perhaps, maybe to teach people a lesson that you can't jump to these conclusions (in theory a told you so I suppose). And I must add yes there is still a missing girl, I can't dwell on that too much as what good will that do, but it doesn't mean I'm not saddened by it all.

Yes, I do. Going on experience, certain people on here will use any method to score a cheap pop against others and I have little doubt it will happen again, cleverly disguised by a "Concerned, from Tunbridge Wells" approach.

Again there are some who have already made up their minds about what's happened. If it turns out they were right I'm sure they'll waste little time in telling everyone else.

Not from me. I am simply expressing an opinion that I think the parents are involved in all this. For some reason that rattles some people.

[irony]You should be ashamed of yourself for having the ability to have an opinion beyond that which the media and celebrities have foisted upon you![/irony]

you're not allowed to on the basis that they've gone through so much already.

I think the parents should have been charged a long time ago for neglect.

Because (presuming they are innocent of involvement in her death) that would really mean something, it won't help Maddie, it wouldn't punish the parents anymore than they are punishing themselves and it wouldn't act as a deterrent to anyone 'thinking' of doing the same thing, it wouldn't be I am not going to leave my kid because I might be charged with neglect like them, it would be I am not going to leave my child beacuse it might get abducted like Maddie

Again, I couldn't agree more!!

I am keeping an open mind with regards to the involvement, because we only know what the media have told us.

If you had made a tragic genuine error of judgement would it matter how understanding people were? Would anything anyone said make a blind bit of difference?

Besides I suspect we are about to go down the same old paths with this thread

That's the trouble with this forum in general. Too touchy, too personal, too middle class bordering on 'safe' only, too I'm better than you, because I word it better, etc etc etc the list goes on.

Can't people just accept that people have things to say, even though things cover past subjects, remember that the context changes constantly, so instead of those scoring points trying to be clever and wanting to look clever or whatever the case may be with the forum.

:rant over:

Apologies for being off topic.

going out on the lash or for a meal with friends is not imo a tragic error of judgement its an act of pure selfishness and negligence. But all im doing is rehighlighting my constant view on this subject so I dare not post any more or no doubt ill get told off again

least you cant fault my consistance
