they would charge you £50 for it anyway dude and for that price you can get this which is a millions times better and defo more reliable. Put your shub in modem mode and use this and you'll be sorted:

Hi i have a SH2 coming to me,at the moment I run the original Superhub in modem only mode and I use a Asus n56u to transmit in 5ghz and 2.4ghz simultaneously.My question is will the new superhub out perform my current setup or am i better off running the SH2 it in modem only mode and keep on using my Asus router thanks

No chance in hell. You'd be far better off using your ASUS.

Unless you're going to use the wireless on the SH2, then there is no real point in you even getting one . I've had the SH2 since the trial started and the modem by itself is not that much different it's more the wireless that has improved, however I have the Cisco Linksys E6500 and it doesn't out perform that.

I would love to know on what you base this.

As a beta tester, I have been privvy from day one to the far superior wireless connection.

My garden is almost 100 foot long, and I can obtain a good signal over that distance - something the SH1 would have no hope to match - not even a 1/4 of it!

Because the improvement on wifi is huge and i've been using it for 5 months now

Thanks for the reply after a local virgin engineer took a look at our broadband,he suggested it may help with wildly fluctuating 100 meg speeds in the eve,I told retentions this and they sent me out one for free personally I think there is an issue with the local network as i have no such issues during the day the high utilisation was supposed to be fixed earlier this month but clearly something is not quite right.

it might be a "huge" improvement over shub1 but that isn't saying anything is it? Let's face it, the wireless on my mouse is better than shub 1

He will still be better off leaving it in modem mode and using his Asus router.

Its the fastest router ive use so far, it easily achieves 100 meg on 5ghz and it gives me the same performance as a wired connection in the same room.The only reason ive got a sh2 on the way was because engineer thought it may make a difference with the fluctuating speeds in the evening.

I'm running the same setup. The SH2 is good but not that good. Once the trial's over I'll be in modem mode with the Asus doing all the hardwork. The only thing I'll say is, if anything ever happens to the Asus, the SH2 would make a reasonable stop gap while you're waiting for the delivery of a replacement (proper) router. Just for info - round the house I get full 100Mb from the SH2 in 2.4 & 5GHz, as I move away the SH2 drops off quicker than the RT-N56U - normally about one bar lower signal.

Ive just got mine it all setup and activated ive put it straight into modem mode because most say that the Asus performs better wirelessly ,I might try the wireless performance of the SH2 another day to see how it compares

I genuinely feel that the SH2 has wireless performance similar to most high-end routers. I'm not entirely certain if it's N900 or just N600 but either way it's a top performer.

The only reason I plugged my N66-U back in was because the SH2's routing functions are still quite basic. I love the N66's built in VPN server, I like being able to change my DNS and a few other bits and pieces. I am, of course, a power user and I don't expect my feelings to apply to many.

However, wireless performance for day-to-day use? Couldn't honestly tell the difference between either.

Yes i have to admit that being able to use those extra features via the asus web interface is a real bonus i use custom firmware which gives you even more options,as another poster said its ideal to use as a replacement if the asus breaks
