Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Unlimited Calls and SMS on the SIM for £5 extra? That sounds pretty good.

---------- Post added at 16:22 ---------- Previous post was at 16:06 ----------

Only heard about it today :-) Had email.

Just phoned up and got upgraded to 152Mb broadband and upgraded phone package for an extra £2.70.

They couldn't sort out SIM or tell me about it, passed me to the mobile team, but they don't have that deal on the system.

So pretty happy in the end.

Thanks for the heads up about retentions.
Happy to help - glad you got it sorted out in the end.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Has anyone had any luck getting the SIM as part of this deal?

My questions would be

1) Can you port a number to it?
2) Can you have more than one at £5?

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Phoned up and upgraded to the Big Kahuna. Was told I needed to upgrade to SH2 (even though I have a SH1). As it's only £20 for the delivery I didn't try to argue as I can use the SH1 elsewhere in the house.

They mentioned the SIMO deal to me but I don't need it yet until August, I did ask if I could get the £5 deal in August and she said that would be ok.

Still running on 60Mb at the moment so not sure when they will update me.

I kept the SH1, and was updated within 15 minutes on the BB.

What do you mean by use the SH1 elsewhere in the house?

As a wireless AP, if I turn off DHCP I'm assuming it will still work as a WiFi hub and Gigabit switch. My house has solid internal walls and I need 3 WiFi APs to cover the whole thing!

I don't think you can disable DHCP on the SHUB (It's been a while since I used it in router mode, so I might be wrong). It's also an awful piece of equipment anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the SH2 vastly increased the range of your wireless anyway.

It's a legal requirement to be able to port a number between operators.

It's one of the better ISP supplied routers and it's leaps better than the SH1.

I have to disagree. SH2 gives good wifi performance in my ordinary family home.

I don't think much of it. Still better putting it into modem only mode and getting dececent router.

I don't have a problem with your opinion but I would suggest that the vast majority do not need an additional router with all the bells and whistles.

For me, the simplicity and lack of function is a bonus.
