Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Does anyone know if BK includes a 2nd box like Premiere. I have old V+ i kept as last year Premiere cost more not to have it, this year it's £4 less without 2nd box.

The advertised package suggests you just get the one TiVo as standard -

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

However, as I already had a 1TB TiVo, I was allowed to keep it (on the Big Kahuna bundle).

You should be able to get 100 now. Hell, you can get 152 now just by phoning up and asking.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Well, not quite as they haven't upgraded us yet, so we're still on 120.

So that's what I wasn't sure of - is the increase from 60 > 100 dependent on the same upgrade to go from 120 > 152?

That's good to hear - we have the 1TB box too, so thought that might be a dealbreaker.

No no, that's not what I said. Yes, your area hasn't been "upgraded" yet but if you're a new customer, you can only get 50, 100 or 152 - so the packages are available in your area. Furthermore, if you just phone them up and ask nicely (best to ask retentions), they'll put you on 152 right now, no new contact needed. I'm on 152 and Warrington isn't due until Q4 this year.

So to answer your other question - yes you could get 100mbit right now if you're changing your package.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Ah, thanks. I assumed there was a technical reason we didn't have 152 yet, and it was dependent on some upgrade needing to be done on a region by region basis.

Although if that's the case, then it begs the question - why aren't all existing customers getting the speed upgrades now?

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

There are two parts to the speeds - the technical capability and the capacity to support it

The technical capability is there, but the capacity isn't yet to support everyone moving up a speed - that is what the postcode schedule is there to show.

So upgrades are much lower in volume than the mass offer, so (for the most part) can be done within normal network planning.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

OK - although not having the capacity sounds a lot like a technical limitation! :p

So I just tried again today, but same thing - they don't have the BK on their system without Sports or Movies. She tried to tell me the BK Bundle includes Sports and/or Movies, and so would be more expensive than we have now.

I told her it was right there on the website, £45 without Sport or Movies. She tried to tell me that that is a telesales offer only for the first 6 months. I told her there was no mention of that anywhere on the site. And if it is a half price for six months offer, then £90 seems an awful lot considering we were only paying £59 for the equivalent now.

She eventually managed to confirm that yes, it is available without Sky Sports or Movies, but was unable to change it, as the offer codes didn't work.

So she escalated it, and they are going to call back as soon as next Monday.

So these new bundles being unveiled with a bit of a media fanfare is fine, but not so good if call centre staff don't seen to know what's going on, and aren't able to change people over.

I had exactly the same challenge - I asked them to put me through to Retentions, and it was sorted, no fuss, no muss.....

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

I would never bother talking to regular CS when trying to get a better deal, retentions always have access to better packages and discounts.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Just got through to retentions, and they've sorted it all out -our total went down from £101.76 to £84.98. And we're on 152MB now.

So pretty happy in the end.

Thanks for the heads up about retentions.
