I'd imagine that is temporary until Sky can sell the channel (and its EPG slot on satellite) to someone else.

If you are complaining about the price and HD offerings wait a few more years and you will pay per program!

VM stated publicly that they have a fixed budget and target the resources where they think they can be stronger ie on demand and faster broadband. That doesn't mean excluding HD channels, as we've already seen, it just means things take longer - something we're used to on cable!

I'd imagine they'll be more of this shifting around on VM's epg to come with the demise of the Bravo channels, Sky 3 and possibly others. I'd expect to see Sky One much higher up VM's epg than what it currently is, for a start.

MB UPDATE: None of my Insiders have heard about Challenge moving to Channel 119.
And the Daily Star web site says:
Quote:
From Tuesday 1 February, Challenge will be available on Freeview on Channel 46. It is also on Sky Channel 125 and Virgin Media Channel 139.

I was Sky through and through, I use to install back in the NTL day's and never really thought alot of the Tv side of things, however I do believe VOD has changed this. I still am not over impressed with the V+ EPG guide compared to Sky's but with TiVo on the horizon this is only going to improve leaps and bounds.
I love VOD, I have used it sooo much more than anticipated. My Wife also love's this feature, she initially didn't want to change but she like myself now laugh's when we get yet another come back to Sky for 50% off as we throw it in the bin!
VM provide a great service, yes thing's go wrong but they also do on other Platforms. (I had 3 Sky HD boxes prior to getting one that worked!)
Sorry for going on, I just can't believe how many people whine on here about the lack of SSP3 & 4 etc not in HD, Sky has pots of money as they can dominate the market due to the shear amount of coverage area they have. VM don't have this luxury, with what they have I feel VM do a sterling job. Likewise the VM employees, MB and many other's do on this site, they do it in their free time and do not deserve being slated for providing info. Simple solution, if you want the channel's not available on VM do everyone a favour and stop moaning on here and go and get Sky!!!.
|
I agree 100% and have to say that all the staff and also MB and the others that give all the info on here do a great job.
Also i think that once VM can get on a even keel that everybody will see massive changes in all areas of the business. They are already trialling over telephone lines and powerlines to areas that have not been cabledand also BT have been told to open up the ducting to other competitors ( so interesting times ahead )
May be wrong but i am stood up to be shot down

Haha this seems true, but after speaking to a few of my neighbours this afternoon who have cable they can't get v+ or get the on-demand to work all the time so I feel a bit better and can take off my tin-foil hat

Not fully but BT have been told to open up the ducting so other providers have access to it. This is the only story that i am able to find about opening the ducting.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
I noticed today that on the old VMtv channels they now have the same restriction when using interactive. If you want to read say BBC News the on demand trailer now shows rather than, for example Living TV in the mini screen. This has always been the case with any of the Sky branded channels.
A bit petty Sky!

And stupid, by the time i've read what I want to I normally change channels as i've missed too much of that show, or just change channel straight away to avoid the OD trailers.
Petty, petty!

Taken from the Virgin National website and as we do not deal with that side of the business I have no idea of how accurate it may be but it is still up.

It's well out of date, they stopped offering the box many moons ago and from the channel list Nuts TV was replaced by CNN a good couple of years ago which itself left Freeview before christmas but I doubt anyone would be too bothered really.
