You really can't, the series links is terrible if coming from the V6.

Series link often seems to fail . doesn't pick up when new season starts not always but enough times.ie bake off professional had to go to catch up , to watch, said it had a link but didn't work

I’m not sure I understand. Maybe there was a problem before, but it’s not there now. It picks up new series automatically, whether it’s via recordings or on demand using the watchlist.
Why would you want to gawp at all the series links you’ve set? Why is that important? Surely it’s only so you can see whether you have set a particular programme, but you can do that by selecting the programme and you will see that straight away.
I think there were quite a few niggles for early adopters, but it works very well now. Obviously, it won’t work exactly the same as the TiVos, but it’s a different system with some of the features under copyright. You will get the same problem with any other system.

Was that recently, Itshim? If so, could there have been a reason for it not recording (eg power cut or someone pulling the plug out when it was starting?). Maybe your box needed a reboot at the time.

Watchlist isn't series link. You're talking about something totally different. If I want to record Hells Kitchen which isn't scheduled to be on, say till 9 months time, I can do that on the V6 right now and not have to worry about it. With the 360, I can't schedule the recording or series link until its showing in the guide and hope the watchlist reminds me that it's coming up which is surely pot look if you're using the 360 enough to realise its coming on.
So you have full control over your series links and can change options from one page. As it stands, I don't have a clue since moving to the 360 which shows I've series linked unless I'm going to search every show to see if it is or not, which is annoying when you had a lot of series links from the V6.

I know it’s not the same - watchlist is for the on demand library, and although you might want to set a link for a programme that isn’t scheduled to be on for months ahead, the chances are there is an existing series on the watchlist which you can add and the new series in nine months’ time will appear automatically.
Similarly, if you are watching a programme through series link on a recording, as long as you don’t actually cancel the series link, that programme will automatically appear as well with the next series. And, what is more, you will see those recordings appear on your Home Screen to alert you (under ‘recordings’).
You are used to doing things in a certain way, but I am afraid we all have to adapt with new technology. You can still find what you want when it’s on and you can keep your series links open for every new series that come on. There is a workaround available, but I can see that you just want to carry on doing things the way you have become used to. Fair enough.

You seem to be comparing something that's not at all the same and then going, there you go, it's basically the same. The whole point about moaning about the series links on the 360 is because its terrible. I want to be able to set a series link and just leave it knowing it will record a new series 9 months later, which if it isn't in the schedule, won't work. The watchlist does not do this and is a terrible workaround if you don't use the homescreen.
I want to adapt to new technology, new technology should be better and easier for the end user and for series links, it simply isn't. It's not about wanting to carry on doing things that I'm used to, it's your workaround isn't doing what I want the series link to do.

Yes, I get what you are saying. What I said about future recordings not listed in the schedule was that if there have been previous series, you can keep the series link open.
I can’t think of any circumstances under which I would think to set a recording for a programme that’s not been on before nine months before it is aired! But obviously you do, so fair enough.
However, I do think it’s pedantic when there are other much more useful features such as profiles on the 360 that are not available on the TiVos. But again, that’s me and I’m not you.

I know you can, that wasn't my complaint. My complaint is setting a series link when a programme is not scheduled can't be done like the V6. This problem is worse when you have 100+ series links and have just changed to the 360.
I've already explained why it's bad, moving from the V6 to the 360 you lose all of your series links. While that's a problem, it would be less of a problem if you could just search for the show and set a series link for unscheduled programmes like you can on the V6. Also, friends and family could be talkabout a programme that you sound interested in, so you want to set a series link, but can't because it's not scheduled. Whatever way you want to look at it, it's a step backwards to what we already had.
How is it pedantic? My first post to you was stating the series links are terrible. Series links are surely a major selling point of a recordable box. I think the voice function is amazing, but I didn't comment to talk about the voice part of it.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance as I'm still on V6 myself but:
If I changed over to 360 today and therefore start with no series links... How would I set a series link for (example) Doctor Who which is due to air later this year?
This may be covered somehow as it is a new series of an existing show. However if I was to hear of a brand new show with amazing reviews over in the US and therefore no UK channel has picked it up yet. Can you set a series link up for when it does air in the UK?
I think that covers two examples.
Also, a question. Any sign of a deleted recordings folder yet? This is another thing holding me back from going to 360
Thanks

Re: July 4th changes
TiVo does have a clearer series link set up.
I switched before Christmas and found that for new series of existing shows e.g. From/ Evil which were not currently showing added them to the watchlist. If repeats were on I set up series links and opted for new only. It works. And for these two examples which I set up months ago the 360 has the new seasons in my planned recordings list.

Doesn't the 360 only record from the channel the series link is set? So if the old series (repeats) were on Gold and you set a series link, but the new series was on BBC, then the 360 series link won't pick it up?

Yes that's true. I record EastEnders for the missus. I set a series link when it appeared on BBC Two as well as the existing series link on One. That's it covered.

Re: July 4th changes
Being able to series link across channels is something that would deal with many gripes about the 360 particularly when a channel closes and some of the programming then pops up elsewhere and you end up with a duplicate series if your planning a binge watch. A minor detail I know.

Re: July 4th changes
Two series links because a show can be on more than one channel.
No series link list
No way to pick up brand new shows unless it is in the guide (?)
Feels like poor implementation to me. I'm all for change but progress needs to come with that change otherwise what is the point

Why would brand new shows not be in the guide?

Maybe because it's on in 4 weeks time.
