Because they feel that their opinion is worth airing, and may add insight and value (some just like to moan, bitch, and whinge, tbf, but that also is their privilege).

Nothing wrong with that as there are some VM users who post to Sky topics so l really don't know what all the fuss is about.

Sorry Hugh I understand that , & I agree with your comments & I was going to drop it, honest.
But what I was trying to find out is why they would choose to spend time on a forum / topic that is designed for users of another service to theirs.
I asked because to understand the thought process could perhaps be a useful tool in promoting business on other non( or at least not closely) related sites.
At no time have I or would I suggest that they should desist from doing so Once again I am sorry if that was the impression I gave

I'm not sure I follow. Who is sending bizarre and offensive messages to who?

For different reasons, one size doesn't fit all in these cases. I am sure that many are testing out the opinions they hold to see whether they are right, to check whether they have made the right decision to subscribe to their existing services. Some of them might be considering moving over to VM. Lots of different valid reasons.
Inevitably, there are a few trolls, but don't assume that this is what they are just because they post here and don't subscribe to VM.
I think we need to calm down about all this. Whoever the author of a post is, if they are saying something valid, entertaining or worth thinking about, that is what is important.
And finding a post on here that tells us more about what is coming soon to VM would be nice as well. We seem to have gone off on a (rather large) tangent. Nothing new there, though...

Slight exaggeration there, particularly when you actually look at how many channels have been added recently. There is also the prospect of more to come.
Contrary to what you seem to think, VM do have virtually all the quality channels that are available on Sky. I have seen the ones we don't have, and with one or two notable exceptions, we ain't missing much.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
This thread is getting worse (as less and less is coming soon) and now we even have moderators contributing to the non-coming soon drivel as seen on the last couple of pages...
Mods - can we have a clear definition of what is on and off topic for this thread?
Yes I realise the irony of this post, but it's getting harder and harder to filter out the crap from the real 'coming soon' stuff

Off topic sorry. I agree what was meant to be a simple question turned into a major event - Sad .
I am please that MB has chosen to only "publish" confirmed information. However I wonder what is so great about changing numbers
Perhaps someone* could "pick" a channel - other than SA & the collective we, could push for it Perhaps change every month * A question to choose the winner perhaps ?. After all nothing BIG seems to be coming soon . There again nothing comes to mind that I would like

It would certainly be nice if we could all pull together to keep this thread as tight as the changelog thread.
We don't need a definition - it is perfectly obvious what we should be posting on here.
Maybe we should have a completely new thread for all the general comments that are made on 'coming soon'. They are entertaining and interesting and it would be a pity if we threw the baby out with the bathwater.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
The thread draws Google searchers to CableForum, they then get ad revenue, if the thread only listed what was actually coming soon they'd make no money.

I can understand your frustration. I’ve flip flopped on this over the past 3 years. Personally I’ve come to enjoy the thread as it is.
Maybe you could start your own thread more suited to what you want to discuss? That way you can set a clear definition of what can and can’t be discussed from day one. I just can’t see this thread changing from what it has become. The thread is too popular.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
For me this is by far the best thread on cf. Think most people on here generally provide a laugh, either intentionally or unintentionally. Love it the way it is with, speculation, accusation and the odd threat the fanfares of channel launches (which rarely happen) that are met with howls of derision. Lose that kinda thing and restrict to only what was coming soon would leave it as dull as an evening with Sandi Toksvig and Alan Titmarch

Why when you see this does it say the SD/HD channel numbers and then for Sky 1/HD it just says 122? It may just be me?
