I agree. Nobody likes a fanboy. If people don't like the views of certain posters, they can just add them to their ignore list. That solves any problems fairly quickly.

This thread is, but the overall forum isn't. Would you like to see SKY customers staying away from this thread?
|
I understand this, and the overall forum is a cable forum, so why would sky customers want to be on here anyway?

Most SKY customers here are ex-Virgin customers who have been members of the site for years. Many are regular contributors to the site and have built up good relationships and rapport with many other users. The site has hundreds of interesting threads and debates. I see no good reason why changing TV provider would result in long term users feeling they couldn't or shouldn't visit the site or this thread anymore.

Like Muppetman they have access to both VM and Sky. I personally have VM and my mother has Sky so I can look at things pretty objectively, Muppetmans parents have VM so he is in the same situation.

Mod comment - we encourage the involvement in our forum, and the active discussion of a wide range of views and opinions, from anyone, be they from cable or non-cable customers (subject to our T&Cs).

For the past 8 to 10 years I've had Telewest then Virgin. Pretty much had all Virgin products VBox, V+Box, V HD box, TiVo, 2mb broadband , 10mb broadband, 20mb broadband, 50mb broadband, 100mb broadband, HD for £7.00, Superhub and mobile phone. Now I've got SKY, I'd like to think I'm able to give a pretty informed view from both sides of the fence.
I still have all the Virgin cable throughout my house. I'm not ruling out a return to Virgin someday.

Not really odd if you consider the amount of customers switching providers for better deals

Having left virgin myself and with the new provider got twice the upload speed, 10 times the download speed, a superior broadband connection with no jitter or packet loss, it shows you can pay the same and get better!

You may get all that. But you don't get the magic that is TIVO. Never understood why SKY let that relationship go. It was and still is ahead of it's time IMHO.

As a household we don't watch a lot of TV but I can understand others find the TiVo box important. The on demand/catch-up TV along with the 2TB hard disk (1.5TB for downloads/recordings and .5TB for sky showcase type stuff) along with the series link recording and reminders is enough for us. Saying that the remote record has been used along with zeebox for a tv guide/changing channels. The android sky go app has also been used to stream channels. We went from M+ on VM which shows the importance put on TV here. Getting all the extra channels when we switched was just a nice bonus.
TiVo was more than ahead of its time. Remember reading about it many years before virgin installed it although it has evolved a lot from the digital recorder it first appeared as.

Indeed as from what l have heard Virgin's latest figures will continue with the unstoppable rise of the TiVo and excellent results to boot into the bargain as well.

VM are doing so well but can only give its customers price rises and no extra channels!!!
TiVo with VM's choice of channels is like a Ferrari with a vauxhall engine, looks good but got nothing under bonnet.
