Please don't let this put you off, if you need help with problems when using the VM service do post again. I am sure there are a lot of people that will try and help.
As for Spotify over VM, my son has Spotify Premium and he never has issues streaming live and downloading for offline use. This is on a variety of devices: Android, Mac's, PC's etc.

Thanks for the reply.
It does seem to have cleared up now. I don't use the stations connection for my Ipad so I use my home connection to sync Spotify. Sometimes It has problems doing that. I have checked with Spotify on their forums, they say there is no issue although a few people have posted. As I said before I have tested this on another provider's line so I know it's not the music service.
From doing a Google search I did see this has been a problem before - tech is not perfect it's built by people and we are far from that, occasional problems are therefore excused but I wanted to ask anyway
I know I only pay £39 a month, But I don't set the prices and people still expect everything to work regardless of price. It's more than my other line but 3x faster so that's the added bonus. And I truly believe cable is the future of all the speed upgrades we will see in our lifetimes.
The studio I work in has a massive internet connection, (10Gbps I think) which is has to as all the music distribution is digital and also because we run webstreams and a TV channel as well as all the station's computers etc. So I wish I could use it!

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?
True fibre optic is the way to go for connection speeds. That is what your studio's connection will be. Horrendously expensive for us commoners ATM but the future is bright.
1Gb is currently possible over Openreach copper but not available, there would have to be a fibre node on every telephone pole, so again horrendously expensive ATM.

However it's still worth mentioning that even the likes of Google have been known to transfer large amounts of data by literally mailing a bunch of hard drives.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?
I checked with the studio manager it's a 10gbps line but it's gifted from 4 of the advertisers in return for always free stuff, a fair compromise
We can only wish for this - However I do think VM will always be on top. I know my FTTC line is also the same sort of setup, Exchange, cab, pole me? and VM is headend, street cab, me? In any case my FTTC is dependant on about 700M in line length. The VM cab ( currrently open with black thick cables visable but protected by a wall/bush) is at the bottom of my steps.
With respect to everyone please don't launch into a full on tech explanation, I don't understand it so please just a yes or a no and a dumbed down version
Anyhoo I have now posted on the virgin forums because I have it again today.

In terms of basic connections, you're not far off - both Virgin and BT use Fibre up to a node of some kind, then copper afterwards. In terms of FTTC versus older ADSL, the node part is just futher along the line. The reason Virgin has an advantage is that their copper is shielded (coaxial) versus a regular copper phone line that isn't - so the length alone can be much greater on Virgin's. As far as I understand, not all of Virgin's cabs are actually the fibre end node and in fact can be daisy-chained from other cabs using the same coaxial cable.
After that, though, the two setups are pretty different. BT's system still has to account for the analogue phone line (hence why you've got filters and stuff to keep the two signals separate) and the actual protocols at this level are extremely different as well.
Your 10Gig studio connection will almost certainly be fibre straight to the building.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?
Hi again,
It is. It comes into a white junction box on the outside at the back. There is a bank of cisco kit running it all in the racks in the comms room.. I can't take pictures due to the company's DPA but it's impressive.
As for my VM connection yes I do like they way there is no other line needed.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Spotify streaming tonight?
BT's FTTP currently has a top speed of 300/30 but is only available in limited areas.

You think someone who posts this: and this: into numerous other people's threads for no reason whatsoever deserves anything other than the reply I gave? **** off.
Those are just two examples of the dozen or so that that have since been deleted, either out of shame or by the moderators.

While the OP may well be entitled to be frustrated or unhappy he does not have the right to fill the forum up with spam due to his frustration. I have never in my ten years on Cableforum seen someone else be quite as disruptive and childish because they didn't get the answer they wanted.

I think because the mods deleted the OP's childish rants so quickly that the majority of people here did not see them, and are acting like it never happened, which is forgivable if they didn't in fact ever see it happening. You and I however, did both see the tripe he posted in other people's threads before it was deleted so we know what actually happened. Fortunately, Google Cache has some evidence of it still, while most of it was deleted too quickly to have been seen even by the almighty Google

Post is the one that got under my skin. I have generally found the people here to be knowlegable, helpful and friendly, even if they are occasionally, a little on the sarcastic side.
He determined that he wasn't going to get any help/support after just two posts, from people who obviously didn't use spotify. The OP should have waited a little longer to see if anyone who does use spotify would assist.

I was offended first, everyone has the right to reply.
So when all the other comments have been made let that be the end of it.

Not sure you are helping yourself here ..
Everyone is entitled to get frustrated with the (lack of useful) replies to a post but you seem to have gone over the top in some of your posts.
