what price do you put on your online security?
personally, I continue to pay zonelabs for a firewall & antivirus & thank spybot & adaware for their free service..
- if netguard works & the price is competitive, though, I will look at it

Re: ntl Netguard
There are a few good free av's out there though.
To me, it would be better, like Paul said earlier, for it to be provided for new users who don't know much about security.

I'm not saying that it's bad.
It's just that there are alternatives for the people who know, but (I don't know what ntl are planning) it would be good for newbies to the internet.
Though just on a personal note, I would get rid of Norton though, it's crap

Re: ntl Netguard
There are a lot of extra features with netguard like the privacy manager and form filler, and more to come.
Personaly I found Norton to be over complicated and painfull.

I've never seen the point in a privacy manager. The one time that I tried the norton one, it was so annoying I turned it off.
Plus, the form filler can be provided by the Google Toolbar in I.E. or by an extension in Firefox.

What do you base this on?

Re: ntl Netguard
The bit on ntl's FAQs page I expect, that says that they might charge for the firewall when they introduce it later this year.

i was thinking of trying it on my laptop and sometimes when im away from home i connect via a different isp. (I just either dialup or connect my laptop to the boardband connection thats there, with the owners permisson ofcourse!)

It says so in the FAQs, but I guess you can try it.

Re: ntl Netguard
Hi, I've noticed that when using remote desktop in XP Pro, the action of logging in to the remote PC, closes the netguard application. Has anyone else found this or is there a fix?

Re: ntl Netguard
Think I'll stick with AVG for the time being until more is known about the netguard virus checker. I haven't read anything that tells me that netguard is anything special; but it could cause problems or run slower than AVG.
