Re: Depressed woman burns her own baby!

Some people need more help and care than others, somehow she has slipped through the MDT'S net when the child was born. I when I had to work out some costings a while ago for a client as he needed a breakdown of figures for the DSS regarding his care, it was something ridiclous like £4,000 a week to care for this guy. He had access and care from all sectors.
Mental health is complex, they could have got a seperation order where as the baby is taken straight from the mother after childbirth and then a section is put on the mother. That is one way it could have been done. Another would have been for the mother and child to live in sheltered accomodation, so that someone is always there for the mother and child. But sadly it is all down to cost. It is a sad world we live in when we cannot help a person who really needs it because it boils down to costings and budgets and streched services.

To make the decision to split a mother from her new born baby, which needs the nourishment & comfort of it's mother must be really hard & would I think take legal action rather than just someone saying so.
who said that you should put all sufferers of PND in institutions?
this women was obviously a unique case. she had mental illness problems before the PND which may just have added to an illness which was already there

Re: Depressed woman burns her own baby!

Often if you put a woman who has PND in these terrible places it does not often help the person, it often makes the situation far worse. I got help off family members, I did not want or see the need to go into a mental hospitial as I know what they are like
