I was thinking the same thing, i always thought that wouldn't be workable.

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
I feel sorry for a lot of the younger drivers who should have taken Jenson's place after the conract fiasco when he tried to lie his way out and onto the Williams team.
As for Monaco it's not one of my favorite tracks due to the narrowness and being less forgiving and it's a shame that it's one of the tracks most likely survive purely due to it's location

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
It rally is an amazing achievement for Reubens, Jensen and Ross (as well as the rest of the team).
Can't say that I really warmed to Jensen Button. I thought he was all talk and no trousers. He was a bit cocky, pushed the rules and never really got anywhere. Kind of reminds me of a young Ralph Schumacher (although Ralph had achieved more in his early career).
I have said this before, Jensen has served his apprenticeship now, he has suffered the hard knocks and is now ready to take his place amongst the greats. His career is now more akin to Mansell. Let's hope he can maintain the momentum.
Well done to everyone at Brawn.
I think that this is a lesson for the younger drivers who think that if immediate success doesn't come their way, if they are prepared to work hard, it will come, eventually.

The Williams team have been temporarily suspended from the Formula 1 teams association for breaking ranks and signing up for the 2010 season.

What do FOTA actually do for the benefit of the teams? By Williams being suspended from it will they lose out on any 'benefits'. Are all teams member of FOTA? And if so does that mean that all the other teams object to the cap?

FOTA I think was supposed to make it easier for the teams to put forward a unified voice when dealing with FIA and F1 managment.
In other words sort out the problems between themselves and they then have a much more stronger group with which to get a better say in F1

Think of FOTA in the following way - FISA/FOCA war in the 80s, FIA/FOTA war this decade.

it's similar to the GPDA , Grand Prix Drivers Association.
The teams don't get anything from it except that get to talk to the FIA via one voice. Before none of the teams could agree on anything which meant the FIA could basically do what it wanted with the rules, or use their competitive instincts to their own advantage by talking to a few teams to get what it wanted.
Now the teams have formed FOTA and are working together, which means if they can be bothered they can write their own rules, AS the EU said they should be, and then once they start doing that it's only a small step to then sort out a TV deal and run your own series, which the FIA could still police. The teams generate 100% of the income and get only get 50% of the profits with the other going to a management finance company who don't do anything at all

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
Aston Martin are owned by Prodrive who were the last team allowed into F1 a few years back but that never happened due to the customer car rules changing.
I think all the new teams are dependant on what happens with the budget cap. If it stays at 40m then they can come in ok. If it changes to 100m then I can't see how they will raise that money and build a new car.
Today is the so called last day for entries so will be interesting to see what will happen. Toyota are rumoured to be pulling out anyway

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
I certainly do hope we see an Aston Martin branded care on the grid in the near future, it could happen as prodrive don`t do Subaru rally now.
Still i can`t see what benefits they would gain from it. Formula 1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motor racing but these latest shenanegins make it a laughing stock.
What chances a breakaway? very slim i`d say

They do do Subaru rally, just not for the official Subaru team
Prodrive does a lot of technical work for a lot of the F1 teams so thier joining F1 as an actual team was expected from them a long time ago.
Anyway coming forward 2 seasons currently the following have signed up for the 2010 season before todays deadline
- Williams
- Team US F1
- Spain's Campos Racing
with the following expected to submit applications before the end of today
With the other usual teams still arguing with Bernie and Max

FOTA have agreed to enter the Formula 1 World Championship until 2012, but only if certain 'conditions are met'.

I knew they wouldn't leave, it would cause them more harm and good.
