Do you mean because Virgin Media have their music on demand feature?
If not, I wasn't aware that music was going out of fashion

I haven't watched any music channels for donkey's years; the interruption of the music with adverts is enough to drive you crazy. Spotify is better; I know you don't get the pictures, but at least you get non interrupted music of your choice.
I suppose building a playlist on Youtube would be an alternative.

There are playlists available on Music On Demand that have no interruptions from advertisements. That would always be my preference.
I agree that the ad breaks in the commercial channels are too frequent and too long. That's what puts me off watching them.

Yes, but whatever the BBC says, it's the Government that will make the final decision on this.

Very true. and a valid option. But again, you're stuck with their choice of music. Last time I checked (years ago}, their weren't that many that I wanted to listen to anyway It may well be better now though.

Yes, and this government seems to want to screw up a broadcasting network that is extremely highly regarded throughout the world. They are idiots.

Highly regarded outside of the country it broadcasts in. Less so from a lot of people who consider it institutionally biased and have little choice but to pay for something which channel 4 have shown can be self funding. But hey ho.
I do have the music channels on at Christmas, but to be honest, the rest of the year I turn the tv off and have the radio on for music.

Channel 4 have severe funding problems and have projected losses in the years to come. At one time their was even talk of two or three of ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 merging.
There just isn't the advertising revenue that there once was.

AIUI the viewing of music channels has declined dramatically and some former pay music channels have gone Free To Air. So yes, you'd think that MTV would be eager to get all of their channels onto VM to try and bolster their flagging ratings.

l cannot be bothered with the radio as there are too many presenters on there who interrupt whilst playing the music.

You always seem to forget the hidden, equally forced 'tax' (as you like to call the BBC license fee) of ITV, Channel 4, and channel 5 through the extra amount you pay for products because of advertising fees. Kind of conveniently I suppose.
How many comprise these 'lot of people'?

Thats what got me interested in dutch commercial radio. Far less advertising or interruptions, & 90% of the music output is in English.

I don't forget it, I just don't consider it to be anywhere close to the same thing.
I wonder if we'll ever find anything to agree on? I like the discussions anyway!

Fwiw I don't really consider the license fee a "tax" per se, but I do begrudge them referring to the removal of a subsidy as a tax, which it isn't, despite the clear political bias that displays, so I don't think it hurts to refer to the license fee as a tax now and then. I find it ironic when the BBC's supporters question it!
