Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I was wondering what was involved with the broadband side of the install.

Re: Should I Put My Faith In TiVo?

You will struggle to get a pro V+ view in this forum! this is a legacy product that is not available for new customers! the question iis how far in the future will they replace V+ with TiVo on repair replacement! I know some will say there are tons of V+ in the warehouse for replacement, but when do you switch off this legacy support for a technology, 5-10 years?

Re: Should I Put My Faith In TiVo?

Ever considered the VHD box?

True it doesn't record, but its faster, cheaper and the PQ is better. Most stuff is available on catch up - which is better than Tivo aswell as it comes from VM's servers rather that TiVo's flaky iplayer.

You could always get a freeview recorder - again better than TiVo in that it adjusts if programme times change which TiVo is incapable of.

Just other options to consider...

You would think a TiVo user would at least understand that the majority of catch up and OD material on TiVo comes from exactly the same place as all other Virgin Media boxes. Only BBC OD material uses the BBC iPlayer app.

Depends where you want the Superhub (combined modem / router) Dave. If you have it near your TiVo then they'll just install a splitter to your existing cable point and then you'll just have one cable to the TiVo and one to the Superhub.

If you want the Superhub in a different room then depending on the distance they'll either do the above and run the cable to the Superhub inside your home or, if it's a fair distance and easier, they might install an additional cable point in the other room and run the additional cabling externally.

You should be able to discuss with the tech when he does your install.

Also as Superblade7 says if you have the router installed near the TiVo point, you can network them pretty easy if you have an iOS or Android* device and use an app as a Remote Control/TiVo Management App.

*Only downside is there is not many devices supported yet, hopefully that will increase soon.

Much obliged for the explanation.

It's a neat bit of kit and very versatile, still getting used to it. The only downside for me is that it only has one scart connection whereas the v+ box had two. I liked being able to record cable to VCR on occasion. I bought a 2 scart connector box but despite trying every combination of leads I could think off and switching between the two connectors I still can't find a way to record cable. It's probably quite "simples" but this senior citizen's little grey cells are exhausted! If anyone knows a winning formula I would love to hear from them.

Re: Should I Put My Faith In TiVo?

Connect your Tivo to a router and you can watch it anywhere.

What a load of rubbish!

To use TV Anywhere to watch the limited streaming channels, you do not need to connect TiVo to your router.
