Should I Put My Faith In TiVo?

I am having Broadband installed on Thursday with the option of a upgrade to TiVo. I like my v+ box which is virtually trouble-free and does all I ask of it whilst I know nothing about TiVo. Should I take a leap into the unknown or stick with my trusty v+ box?

In most respects TiVo is much better than V+.

Even the base TiVo has a larger storage capacity. You can record three things at once whilst playback something already recorded (you can timeslip something being recorded as well). Series link is great for so many of these programmes that stop /start through the year. The guide seems more responsive than V+. I could go on. Only downside is you end up recording so much stuff, you just don't get time to watch it ;)

The V+ is horrific in my opinion , the TIVO blows it away its far better to use.

Overall, TIVO is a vast improvement on the V+!

If it works for you virtually trouble free then stick with it. Why bother changing.

Catchup on V+ was a lot smoother than Tivo

The only downside for the TiVo imo is bbc iPlayer, also when going through the menus I get a black screen for a couple of seconds, that only seemed to start with the latest update.

Other than that I haven't missed my old V+ at all.

Thanks for all your replies. It seems to be pro TiVo so far!

As the TiVo is so good at recording stuff I can't keep up with that iplayer is so rarely used it's not on my radar. But then maybe I don't use it much because it doesn't work well.

As other people have said the BBC iPlayer is sometimes not as good as on the old V+, but I originally got one Tivo and kept my V+. Then I got fed up with the V+ and upgraded the second box to another Tivo. Aside from a couple of little issues with catch up which I think were actually area faults not my Tivo I've never wanted the V+ back. Only my opinion but hope that helps.

Opinions are just what I'm after thanks. I already have xl tv and phone so is there much in the way of extra wiring to be done. Also does the TiVo box come with a manual?
Cheers

I'm a Sky+HD user however as I've previously said I'd have no fear of using TIVO , in my experience of using my parents its light years more advanced than the V+.

Give this a read

TiVo is excellent and in answer to your question, no additional wiring will be required as they'll just use the existing cable that connects to your V+.

There have been well documented issues with I player. However, I don't know if they still exist-I haven't had any problems for a while. On the plus side because you're connected directly to I player, rather than what Virgin can carry at their head end, so there is more content and it's often available for longer.

As to your other question, yes it comes with a manual , well, mine did.
