Re: STB Software ReBoots

When I started this thread I was referring to a STB VBox HD, it's not a Tivo or anything.

When I look at the settings for HW, it says CISCO4585, does this mean that it too is a Cisco and will need swapping for a Samsung too?

I don't want to go for a replacement box only to find out that the fault is on all the VBox HD, and that I am stuck with it unless I moved to Tivo that is.

In other words there is no other option for non tivo other than the VBox HD Cisco4585?

Your box is made by Cisco but isn't a TiVo. It's only some early Cisco Tivos that have the rebooting problem. Yours doesn't need swapping.

In fact there is no Samsung V-HD. They are only made by Cisco.

Stop looking at the engineers' log, and just enjoy your TV viewing

There was a very good reason why I was interested in why the box was rebooting, as I was recording something over a period of time that isn't available again once it's been shown, I wasn't doing it for being nosey.

You say mines doesn't need swapping, but it does unknown re-boots, rather than software re-boots, so would you say that it does need swapping in this case?

Nobody has said why there are unknown re-boots, I ain't making this up, it actually says unknown in the logs.

It means the box doesn't know why it rebooted. Perhaps the power went off.

You say perhaps the power went off, from where? you mean the box itself? if that is the case then surely the box does need replacing as the power seems to go off many times being that I have had plenty of unknown re-boots.

Sorry for the confusion, when I talk about recording I record with a stand alone DVD recorder.
