Re: Some help setting up Superhub

Well, you do want to see a steady graph. I can't diagnose if the variation is due to network segment utilisation or the effects of high DS power. It won't set you back much to buy a Forward Path Attenuator on ebay.

Re: Some help setting up Superhub

wouldnt listen to support.. take it with a pinch of salt.. and also some engineers.

Ive had long time ongoing signal problems, and have been repeatedly told i have signal problems.

Then after I had 100mbit installed and was told i had signal problems again I took matters into my own hands and persued the matter.

Ideal range is, -3 to +7 from what I gather.

with as near to 0 as being perfect apparently, although technically +2 should be considered perfect as it is slap bang in the middle of the range.

Seph has posted previously this article on the VM site

But from experience ive learned not to listen to engineers or support.

Support.. some of their 100mbit team sent me engineers and told me -6 was borderline and needed fixing, even criticised the first engineer for not doing more to resolve it... while others said they regularly see signal levels of that level and it is nothing to worry about.

Same with engineers, had 2 engineers who did nothing to increase my signal, 2nd even said nothing to worry about unless it goes down past -7 dBmV, but it is all rubbish.

In the end I reported a TV fault, and engineer number 3 called networks and got my signal sorted properly.. now im running around -1 to -2 which is within spec... and ive noticed my connection has stabilised and im even getting a faster speedtest result at times.

Ive never seen this phenomenon, a hub seems to work the same with constant reboots no matter what the level is

That simply means there is a masking fault up to the power level tipping point.
