Re: Dyer Probe For 'Cut Ex's Face' Comment
Neither i or the wife read any of them and yes i agree totally fashion does more damage to women (how many eating disorders are they responsible for ) then this comment will but that doesn't mean you ignore one thing because something worse is out there. Personally i think people should just learn to be happy in whatever way they can rather then seek an image someone else dictates or worry overly about the opinions of others, but not going to happen anytime soon.

Zoo mag have sacked Dany Dyer sky link
Quote:
As an immediate result of an on-going internal inquiry following an indefensible comment published in this week's issue, Zoo has decided to bring the Danny Dyer column to an end," it said.
"We would like to make it clear that Danny was not misquoted, but that does not excuse the fact his comment appeared in print.
"By way of sincere apology and to underline that Zoo condemns any violence against women, we have made a substantial donation to Women's Aid."

Re: Dyer Probe For 'Cut Ex's Face' Comment
Apparently he dictated the answer over the phone. How he can be misquoted to that degree is a complete mystery.
The comment was undefensible but I don't think the feminists have too much call to complain. Violence against is not only tolerated and expected. It's almost encouraged.

Society.
On a TV show if a woman slaps a mans face, everyone laughs. Could you imagine if a man slapped a woman? Who would laugh at that?

Re: Dyer Probe For 'Cut Ex's Face' Comment
I agree that it's shown as a laugh which it shouldn't be and it's never ok to slap a woman or a man.

You're in the minority unfortunately. Which is why I find it a bit hypocritical a lot of the comments from the women's refuge groups and i'm sure they aren't all in your group.
And I can't see things changing any time soon.

Well all of us women cant be responsible for what they put on the sitcoms or on films where the actors are hitting one another and getting laughs for it. Its unfortunate that a lot of men who are being abused by a woman dont come forward but I can understand why they dont as they are afraid at being laughed at and not believed that a woman can be abusing them.

Unfortuanly we cant change the world or have control in everything that happens but all we can control is how we behave towards other human beings and treat people how we would like to be treated

I didn't want to derail the thread but its more the hypocrisy of some of the commentators (not in this thread, in the media) that annoys me.
Things are changing slowly and it will be 30+ years before we make the similar in-roads to how women have done.

Re: Dyer Probe For 'Cut Ex's Face' Comment
A lot more programmes should concentrate on the abuse women and men go through and keep it to the front of tv all the time and ads should be shown after the watershed time of people getting abuse and maybe well maybe then something then would be done about stopping the shows of people being shown slapping one another on programmes and thinking its ok to do it

Re: Dyer Probe For 'Cut Ex's Face' Comment
Have they said who should have checked the copy, before it went to print?
Maybe I'm a bit out of touch, but I still don't know who he is.
