Re: Where's our Obama?
Anyway putting aside the colour of Obamas' skin i think the OP has a relevant question ,i think he means were is our young original go getting future prime minister going to come from ,is there anybody sitting on the back benches with some new ideas waiting for a chance to voice them ?,i can't think of anybody brave enough to take westminster by the balls and give it the shake up it needs

He's some where in the Middle East using his winning smile to find a lasting peace to the Arab Israeli problem

The only reason he is in power is because he isn't George W Bush, although even Bush never tried to bomb the moon so perhaps their are similarities....

Re: Where's our Obama?
Obama got in because he was the only credible alternative to the Party of Bush. By that token, 'our Obama' is David Cameron.

I'm not certain if we're actually that relevant anymore. Since we are now EU Airstrip 1 and our leaders largely emasculated surely the corporate money is now focussed on Brussels?
If there are any EurObamas out there they won't be wasting their time playing with a left-over Government that has to ask permission before they can even control their own borders or policing.

It is true though. the whole world made an issue of things being different because he was black. you can't deny they did.

Re: Where's our Obama?
We had our obama he was called tony blair and didn't that work out well for all if us. I never bought into all the hysteria about obama and from what i can see he isn't the great politician that some thought he was. Loving how the senate and in fact everyone and everything else is being blamed for why obama cannot implement his preferred program but surely all that proves is how politically naive obama was in thinking he could get so much change through.
I think race was an issue in his election campaign and having spoken to a couple of friends who live in the US there was an element of if you didn't like obama you had a problem with black people in general. Now i havn't been to the states in many many years so i can only take their word for it but from bits i saw of the election campaign race was more noticiable then it was before. A smurf would have got elected in that election people were completely fed up with bush and the republican party so the democrats had most of their work done before they even got started.
What do i want in our next leader simple a person that is honest, hard working, has integrity, will answer a damn question straight up and won't disappear everytime something goes wrong. Who best fits that all i know for sure right now is it isn't gordon brown and is a two horse race between david cameron and nick clegg neither of them being all the things i want.
Whatever happens as long as we are saved from the circus that became the american election that will make me mildly pleased.

Well as Foreverwar proved earlier. He has actually been one of the most successful Presidents in getting bills though the senate and the house. The key policy is the health care bill, which due to fierce opposition from the right and commercial interests (remember the NHS is awful campaign?) was watered down. I think the fact he tried though is commendable. It's better than giving up because he might look unpopular as a result.

Race was a story but it's by no-means why he got elected. He got a landslide. It's part anti-Bush and part that Obama had a great campaign and an inspiring message. You have to remember there were a lot of people for whom his race counted against him and they were using the 'omg, if you don't vote for him people will call you a racist' line. It's actually an effective technique used by racists to try and validate their hatred.

Re: Where's our Obama?
We have no "Obama".
Obama stood for, and personfied, change.
We have no one, I will not be voting this year as I really believe it does not matter who is in power this time round.

I very much doubt there's a politician out there who fits that description.
