Where's our Obama?

With an election looming I am sitting here feeling not hope for future, but a sinking feeling that no matter who we elect the best we could hope for is a slightly different flavour of what we have now.

Where's our change?

Where's our hope?

Where's our Obama?

Re: Where's our Obama?

I was listening to 'Red Ken' Livingstone today on the subject of Obama's presidency and he made what seemed like a valid point when he said that Obama's been hamstrung by a US Senate which is heavily 'influenced' by corporate America - hence the lack of progress on many key issues which don't suit the paymasters. Apparently it only takes 41 of the 100 senators to effectively block anything Obama wants to do so it's not difficult to imagine how this could be the case...

Obama got to ambitious too early. The health care bill has really crippled his presidency, the republicans managed quite successfully to attach the world 'socialism' to it and organize the protests. Fox News and their allies attacked relentlessly. Don't know how he can do much now.

Damien, you may find this of interest, and it may change your mind about his supposed "lack of progress".

I think the sentiment of the OP is being expressed by an increasing number of people more because of their unrealistically high expectations than anything else. I hope Obama lives up to all the hype and justifies the faith so many people have put in him but I also know he's got his work cut out and feel those waivering US voters need to cut him some slack.

America is probably asking the same, after all those promises of change and nothing happened.

He was just a novelty from the start "oh look this guys black he must be different" haha didn't work and the UK really doesn't need someone like obama....we need someone we can trust and make changes for the better and tackle the difficult problems of our society and we wont find that in the main two parties.

Do you actually understand what your talking about? You could question the ability for Obama to make the changes and push them though but you can't really say he isn't trying to do anything. The things he has tried and the fact that he isn't isolating America from the entire world is a positive thing. I don't like your stupid race comment either, get over it.

The only reason he is in power is because of the guilt surrounding his race - fact.

Reason why I don't like the man is because he has no spine, has lots of empty promises and isn't the second coming of jesus as predicted. Kissing the arse of people to make America seem less approachable doesn't hide what they really are.

He provided universal health care.

i think that is absolute rubbish ,the reason he got elected is because he won the most votes because people(black and white) liked his ideas and i think the last that would show any guilt about the treatment of blacks is america

The only reason he is in power is because of the republicans were unelectable - fact. Although it isn't. Because the reasons he got elected are many. Do you have anything to back up that rubbish?

I think he does have spine. Probably why he is having trouble at the moment. He wanted to reform health-care and attempted it. That itself requires some backbone because it was very unpopular.

You don't have the like him, many don't but you should at least offer valid reasons.

Only got elected because he is black? Utter, utter rubbish.

Please the only reason he got into power was the bullying tactics used by his supporters "Oh your not supporting Obama then you must not like black people" etc. Misguided reparations

The mans a joke

Yes. Because Republicans don't use bullying tactics. I seem to remember a lot of people like you who seem to think the only reason a black man can ever be elected is because he is black.
