I'm at work at the momoent but look forward to checking out the updated V+ box later tonight.

I like the new colour scheme.

When are the standard STB boxes getting updated? I have a Samsung 2110 box with the old flavour scheme.
Standard STBs will start to be updated soon and everyone will be updated by June.

Its all being done by area and STB make/model so that there aren't any problems.

However if anyone gets a new install from today or a STB then it will already have the UK2(Virgin TV) epg on the box.

Same as mine. Is this not the new version?

Anyway since the EPG upgrade I have lost previous recordings - including BSG, very angry -(error code 2056), remote is slow to respond, recordings start but I still receive TV picture, and i've had to reboot twice already. What is going on?

The box worked fine before today. Call it Virgin Media, NTL, I don't give a ****, just give me a product that works? Or at least don't break something that was working well.

Re: V+HD box locking up after new firmware this morning

V+ box installed last week. Seemed to be going OK, but this morning not working.

Message said service not available, try later. By the afternoon, still not working so phoned NTL (Virgin).

Was told to press reset button and then guy said we needed to reconfigure my hard drive – then phone went dead. Not too happy aftre 25 mins to then be cut off but rang again and this time, aftre just 20 mins, was then told by someone else that technician would need to come out. This will not be until Monday PM, earliest they can do it.

Have been reading the Forum and wondered whether I should be Reformatting the Hard Drive Instructions, which seems easy to do. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: V+HD box locking up after new firmware this morning

Looks like I haven't got the firmware...

I haven't got a clue where to find out but I know that the application version I have is 11.1.8_ukcable.

That's probably it.

So what I'm gonna do now is put everything I want on DVD and then I won't lose anything...

Re: V+HD box locking up after new firmware this morning

Wow. Decided to give it a go. Reformatted, thanks to links on this site...and yes, it now works!!

Why on earth couldn't they have told me that today, having spoken to two persons and wasted an hour of time, as well as them sending someone out this Monday to fix the problem.

Seems like Mr Branson has some training issues.

I received the new software this morning.Pre-update my only niggles were the frame skipping and remote lagging at midnight(only ever happened for me at this time)

Since the update today,Ive had to reset several times and even had to unplug at one stage. The remote lagging is now a permanent feature? If I surf the TV guide it freezes every minute or so?

Re: V+HD box locking up after new firmware this morning

Well, mine completely froze up at 5, and the remote went AWOL.

Still no Red Button or Sky Movies 9 which is really Peeing me off...

I don't know what else to do, but I am deleting all my HDD stuff in the next 2 hours. Just Shameless to record onto DVD after another Hour of WWE, then a format etc.

However, I don't recall seeing 'format' as an option... so how do I do that then?

and also, somewhere else, I saw what reset you can set it to do... warm reset etc... how can that be changed also?

And did the new firmware require you all to rechange your pin?

mine did. it reset back to 1234 so I had to do it again.

My recordings stayed put, though.

Re: V+HD box locking up after new firmware this morning

Mine has gone completely shagged.

Its got to the point where I have formatted the hdd.

then it rebooted.

now its completely unresponsive, and it does all the remote tasks in short bursts, about 2 minutes each burst.

now?

its in standby with a picture still showing.

I've completely pulled the plug on it.

On demand is temporeraly unavailable, and I should call 151 (isnt it 150) from my V phone.

lol

this is funny...

---------- Post added at 04:37 ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 ----------

Ok.

So I gave it a minute unplugged, plugged it back in, it powered up and went to Sky Sports News.

Left it for a further 2 minutes, pressed Standby and it took 40 seconds to respond.

its now in standby, and I have pressed on.

its now took another 45 seconds to boot back up, and display no program information, and no sound coming out of the speakers.

the info bar is now stuck on the tv, looking like a bumble beè displaying no information.

the clock just changed from 4.31 to 4.33, (yes... that's right... Its time travel) and I'm still waiting...

ooo... 4.34. No time jump there...

tick tock...

still no information.

remote still unrespomsive for 45 seconds.

well, this is great! I'm so happy! woohoo!

No TV service is exactly what I pay £70 a month for!

oooo another time jump! it went to 4.35 for 2 seconds and then 4.36.

ha ha ha.

I'm going insane now.

Excuse me while I throw the box out the window.

---------- Post added at 04:45 ---------- Previous post was at 04:37 ----------

ok.

were fine now.

EPG is still slow,

waiting for press red on BBC...

still showing the wait box in the bottom corner, and now that box has disapeared with no sign of BBC interactive via press red.

sky movies 409 will probably not work at this time of night, but, no doubt I still can't use that.

on the blower later to get this crap sorted...

locked up again.

I'm leaving it to rest now.

off to bed. hope you had a laugh reading this. I'm now going to cry myself to sleep and frustrate my senses on how wonderful the new Virgin Media Service is, and how I'm reeping the benefits!

hurrah!
