Re: Kojak
Ach! TV gets more and more crap..Why the hell do they have to keep making remakes of old series? I think the world of TV and film makers has become intellectually defunct and now has the level of imagination of an ant.

Re: Kojak
I didn't like the original Kojak so I will be giving it a miss also...Now Columbo was worth watching untill they tried to update him and spoilt it all

Columbo was the best detective show ever what made it so great was you didn't have to keep guessing who did it as you knew at the start and the rest of the show was all about Columbo proving it. As you say, the newer episodes couldn't shine a light on those from the 70s & 80s.

Re: Kojak
A bit off topic but I remember once watching a murder film years ago and when it got to the last half hour when the murderer was going to be revealed we had a power cut, the leccy came on just as the closing credits were on, I asked every one I knew if they had watched it and of course no one had.....no a days i would just go on the net to find out.
I never did find out who did it

Re: Kojak
I've watched four episodes of the new Kojak and all I can say is It's no NYPD Blue or The Shield. I really don't know why they called it Kojak as it's not a continuation of the original nor can I say it's a remake. It's just a bald cop who's called Kojak and that's where the similarities end. If they had called it something else then it probably wouldn't get anyone's attention as it's a pretty straight forward & predictable american cop show. There's a bit of eye-candy to keep the interest going but that's really the only good thing about it If you are going to watch it, don't expect much. My recommendation is to watch The Shield with Vic Mackay 'Al Capone with a badge'. It's a shame NYPD Blue has finished as IMO that is the best cop show ever.

It was very good in the early years, but I think Homicide & Law & Order are better.

IIRC crimes on Kojak were ussually solved by dilligent policing/brute force, i.e. one guy going around all the shops in New York asking if they happened to sell a blue biro to a man with a moustache. Is any of that left?

I'm not a fan of Homicide at all, I watch the occasional episode but it never really grabs me like NYPD Blue does, I find it to be slow and rather boring. Law & Order is okay, I started to watch it more during the series that starred Angie Harmon but again, it's nothing special, better than Homicide though. IMO, NYPD Blue was consistently good. I can remember when David Caruso left and I was like "it's gonna be rubbish without him" but Jimmy Smits was just as brilliant. Then when he left I felt the same but Ricky Shroeder was good as well, it took a while to like him but he grew on me and the writing & acting from the other cast members was still top notch. Even when Shroeder was killed off, it was still a really good show till it ended, primarily because of Dennis Franz.
