Re: Cable Box stuck on "tune"

Are you still "stuck on tune"?????

Colchester has an NTL cable head up on Severalls Ind. Est. doesn't it?
I'd have thought the town was bustling with engineers?

Cheers..

Re: Cable Box stuck on "tune"

This situation just goes from bad to worse. When the STB finally delivers a picture other than the "Sorry to interupt your viewing " message I can only recieve BBC 1,2 & 3 plus a few others. I eventuallly got through to CS last night and was told it was a problem at their end and to give it 4 hours and every thing would nbe back to normal. Tonight nothing has changed and still have same problem so after waiting for another 20 minutes I get through to CS and this time I get fobbed off with the excuse that someone has downgraded my package! If that is the case than why cant I recieve ITV or Channel 4? The bloke told me that it would all be fine in about 10 minutes but after an hour I still have same problem! I'm not going to sit on hold for another half hour to be told some other load of crap. Do I have to threaten to cancel the account to get my cable fixed or is this the norm for customers to be treated?

Re: Cable Box stuck on "tune"

Well Saturday is not that far away! The big question is - will anyone turn up? I hope so....
Meanwhile it sounds as though the channels you are receiving are indeed limited by the way your card is currently programmed.....

Sounds as though you are getting the "Free to Air" channels and not the "Free to View" channels which I believe include Channel 5. (Or am I talking SKY?)

If that's the case you should get the same channels whether or not your card is inserted.... If you do remove the card do remember to put it back in the correct slot too - or you'll get FTA channels only and the cs update wont work either! Just a thought! Could be another explanation for your symptoms. Some STB's only have one card slot so this may not be a potential problem for you anyway.

What error message if any are you getting when you tune to a channel that won't clear for you?

The card should be upgraded back to the package you are subscribed to via your cable signal - but - if your original "stuck on tune" message is anything to go by one reason your card is not responding could be that the signal may be being degraded (possibly for reasons mentioned earlier) by the time it reaches your stb. On the other hand maybe there's an admin cock up (perish the thought! ) and the cs are trying to upgrade another subscribers card? This could explain a few symptoms too! Might be worth checking that the card number on the back of your card actually matches their records!

I take it that you are no longer sticking in "TUNE"????????
Or has that fault now become interrmittent?

Good luck on saturday - if not before..... Weather forecast is excellent for the Easter Weekend!
