Re: Students Rioting in London.
I think we need to wait until this report is published before passing comment ... at the moment all we have is Team Jody's spin on an unpublished tribunal report. The lawyer says Macintyre is 'vindicated' - well frankly, that could mean anything, especially given Macintyre's scarcely-concealed assumption that every copper is up to no good.

Just had a look at his grotty little blog™ ... his analysis of the war in Libya is jaw-dropping in its naivety. The world must seem such a simple, black and white place from the vantage point of his wheels.
Apparently, every Westerner in any sort of uniform is bound to be oppressing somebody, whether at home or abroad. Especially Arabs.

Re: Students Rioting in London.
IPCC press release:
Quote:
IPCC partially upholds appeal by Jody McIntyre
24 August 2011
The IPCC has partially upheld an appeal from Mr Jody McIntyre in relation to a complaint he made to the Metropolitan Police Service about the treatment that he had received from their officers in Parliament Square during the student protests of 9 December 2010.
The IPCC agreed with the MPS's findings in relation to a number of aspects of Mr McIntyre's complaint. In particular the IPCC agreed that officers' initial actions in removing Mr McIntyre from his wheelchair and away from a dangerous part of the demonstration were appropriate in the circumstances. However, the IPCC has concluded that, when an officer dragged Mr McIntrye along the ground, towards the end of the incident, this did amount to excessive force.
The IPCC believes there was an indication that a criminal offence of common assault may have been committed and the matter should therefore have been referred to the CPS. However, the six month time limit in which such a prosecution could be commenced had already passed by the time this appeal was lodged.
The IPCC has upheld this part of the appeal and believe that that officer's behaviour has fallen below the standards of professional behaviour and should be subject to management action.
The IPCC also found that the MPS were right to conclude that Mr McIntyre was struck by a baton but that it could not find a case to answer against any particular officer for the strike. However, the IPCC considers that Mr McIntyre does have a legitimate grievance in respect of the baton strike and therefore his complaint should have been upheld. We have suggested that an apology would be an appropriate way of dealing with this particular part of the incident.

Re: Students Rioting in London.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought the essence of Macintyre's complaint was that he was removed from his wheelchair ... the very thing that the IPCC has now ruled to have been reasonable under the circumstances?
Still, I don't expect we can expect Team Jody to stand up and trumpet their 'partial vindication' can we?

People have been jailed for less than that over the past couple of weeks. I would love to hear about it the day he gets a knock on his door and invited to help the 'feds' with their enquiries.

Love the way that blogger called out the two comments agreeing with each other via the same IP.

Re: Students Rioting in London.
Well that just about sums this misguided idiot up doesn't it. I wonder how he'd feel if those he was trying to 'inspire' to 'rise up' decided to run amok down his street and loot, then set fire to his home. Would he consider that legitimate action I wonder? I don't suppose he'd bother calling the police either would he...

Wonder if he'd complain about the firemen removing him from his wheelchair then?

The history student who doesn't know what the Cenotaph is has been released from prison after 4 months.
4 months into a 16 month sentence

No it was a "Blair" thing and it went " Weak on criminals hard on the victims of crime "
He wife made sure of that by quoting the HRA when ever she could
I see no difference now or in the future as long as the HRA can be used so easily by crafty lawyers.
