irex iliad available for early adopters

got mine friday \o/
screen is just so amazing, can't wait for the software updates (online lan/wlan) to make it a bit more usable, the software is beta atm and stuff is missing most notably it has no powersaving so the batteries only last 4.5 hours :< and bookmarking but hopefully they should start coming in the next beta.
soon as i can find a case for it i'll being using it as a replacement for my franklin ebookman.
mobileread picture thread here show what the eink screen is like in different light situations.

rofl loads £442 @ current conversion rate from euro's

Mobileread has a page with the current 2nd gen devices in the works
http://www.mobileread.com/eink/

it's a lot but the eink screen is very new tech and only needs power to change the screen so if the device is turned off the page will still be the same which makes for huge power saving.
one problem is the eink screen is currently slow to change so isn't usefull as a pda but is fine for use as a ebook reader.

hmm... nice idea but i certainly won't be getting one until the price is somewhere near reasonable.

Ok, so ebooks can be obtained for free, but if i were to buy normal books and read them i could buy about 75 of them before i even coved the cost of the gizmo.

If it was under £100 then it might be a goer....
