Well, you'll be surprised at what can happen, i mean, aren't these things fine until they hit something like 70'C? Or was it 65? Either way their lots of headroom usually. This CPU is proving it's worth though, i'm going to start piecing together my next PC ready for my paycheck. Could you post what motherboard you're using? If it has support for SATA-II? etc... (I'll look it up if need be, just post the model)
Thanks, and.. erm... SuperPi :p

36 seconds super pi but I think ram plays a major role in this test
I am running a sata II hdd I think I posted all the specs but its this Gigabyte board

Zing, it won't crash due to the throttling technology on the chip. As soon as the CPU reaches it's high temperature, it'll start to slow the CPU down.

Re: [Merged] 4.1 Ghz Dual Core Pentium 805 Monster
Then how will I know when that happens? According to custom pc there machine crashed at 3.8 gig after 5 minutes.
It wont be temperature that crashed this cpu it will be frequency. Its already proved it is stable under 60 degrees at all the clocks the temp has not changed. The cpu will crash when the frequency is to high for the cpu to handle at that voltage. Then I can raise the voltage and this should allow for higher frequencys however this is when heat plays a role because the overall wattage wastage increases and of cause then you get heat.

Re: [Merged] 4.1 Ghz Dual Core Pentium 805 Monster
Tom's Hardware Guide were using some sort of software to detect when the CPU started to throttle, but I have no idea what the software is called - I don't even think they told the name of the program
I think it was around 3.4-3.6GHZ that it started to throttle, but I'd have to check the review again.
If Custom PC's machine crashed after 5 minutes at 3.8GHZ then it's possible that the throttle technology didn't do a good job on their machine.

Re: [Merged] 4.1 Ghz Dual Core Pentium 805 Monster
ok maybe this looks like its happened its capped itself to 3.7 gig bios read it as 3.7 even though the system reported it at 3.8 so maybe some kind of cap.Ill bung the new HSF on monday and raise the vcore a notch and see if it reports properly So its hit its wall at 3.7 gig guys with stock cooling and stock voltages

Aww man that sucks
Damn nice on stock cooling stock vcore, 1.04Ghz OC... I'm liking it. Would be a 2.5x upgrade to this one... So, by rule of thumb, somethiung more than twice as good is usually a decent upgrade

Funnily throttlewatch reads my CPU as a 1733Mhz unit... hmmm...

Just edited, any reccomendations? I'm not actually sure how big the PSU would need to be?
