Exclamation PS2 Ethernet & Games

I am getting a PS2 Tomorrow, what i would like to know is....

Do i just unplug my Ethernet cable from my PC and place it in the PS2? I am currently on a Blue Cable Modem off NTL.

Also what happens when i plug it into my PS2, is it just a case of loading a game and selecting Play over the internet like it is with PC games? Or do i need to set it up differently?

Basically any help on this subject please ive never done it.

Re: PS2 Ethernet & Games

I tried that with my ntl set top box and it didnt work but i think it might work with the cable modems (not so sure though).
The ps2 gaming isnt really anything special.
I prefer xbox live, and is by far the better online console gaming platform.
If plugging the modem straight into the ps2 doesnt work, get a router.
That way you can use your pc and playstation at the same time.

Like deathtrap3000 said a router is probably the best option but if you dont want to pay out for one you can set up your ps2 to run through your pc by using internet connection sharing. All you need is a second network port/card in your comp to add another ethernet cable from your pc to your ps2. Its how I have mine setup so if you decide to use this option I can try help. If you want any help this way then just pm me.

Re: PS2 Ethernet & Games

Unplug the Modem from the PC and plug it into the PS2, reboot the Modem and it should work fine.

try the help section here:
http://uk.playstation.com/pdcf/index.jhtml?locale=en_GB

then go to what "you need for network gaming", everything you need to know is there.
