'Unsubscribed' channels - any ideas?

Several channels are coming up as unsubscribed. Seems 'fairly' random, e.g. Discovery is OK, Discovery +1 is 'unsubscribed'. UK TV channels are OK, ITV2, 3 and 4 and Sky 1 are not. Tried the usual - power off - leave - power back on, and clean the card. No difference. Tried calling 'Faults', but 'all systems down, try again tomorrow'. As it's now an 0845 number, rather than 0800, I'd prefer not to have to keep calling, though I appreciate that 0845 is at least better than 0870!

Anyone any ideas, or do I just wait until tomorrow? (South Manchester area, SAMSUNG box< if that helps)

Could just be a local area fault. It may correct itself before tomorrow. Well fingers crossed anyway

Hope so, though I was pleasently surprised at how quickly the phone was answered, compared with the 40+ minutes I used to have to wait! Just a pity they could do nothing, as their 'systems are down'.

hi there:

some simple checks:

Do you have a channel number displayed on the STB?

reseat your smart card (take it out, wipe it and place it back in the box)

Make sure your cables are in securely

Reboot the box at the mains for 20 seconds (make you switch it off completely, with no lights on the front of the STB).

If that doesnt work, call faults in the morning. The systems went down around 7pm today but they should be back up in the morning. If there are no area faults, the agent will send down signals which will take two houirs to clear. Hopefully that should fix your fault.

Hope that helps

Re: 'Unsubscribed' channels - any ideas?

Thanks Pinky. Will see how things are this evening, and give faults a call if the problem persists. I did try the things you suggested, but to no effect, and the fact that it is only random channels which are 'unsubscribed', rather than all channels in a package, leads me to suspect something other than a box/cable/smart card issue. I did not notice whether the channel number was displayed on the STB, but the EPG for the seected channel displayed OK.

Re: 'Unsubscribed' channels - any ideas?

I had this problem on Sunday morning. I called Faults and I was told there was a problem in South Manchester on Saurday night.

So the engineer sent a signal to my Samsung box, I rebooted and the channels were back.

Hope this helps.
