If you are outside of the three areas above, the configuration files are yet to be deployed but will be done by the end of June.
|
Thats quite specific... "end of June"

In addition, we also need to upgrade the configuration files of ntlHome 100 & ntlHome 120 modems, which we plan to do in the near future.
|
Is this quite specific? "plan to do in the near future" ... Maybe the ntlhome 100 and 120 modems are included in the June date, but maybe not.... I hope they are but dont like the way its worded

The communication is clear, its a rolling migration that will take until the end of June. It doesn't say anywhere that the 100's and 120's will be excluded.
|
I don't know why you quoted this from me about the communication being clear, as this quote has nothing to do with what I said earlier......
And the communication is not clear, it all depends on how your reading it, hence why some people are finding it difficult why NTL used near future when they could have said by the end of june.

I hope your right. The thing is I just dont like the way it says "near future"... would it not have been easier to say by the end of June rather than saying near future which could be whenever.

as from my post before this quote, this is not helping other people read it corectly
I bolded your comment to highlight something of a grey area....... yes they will not be excluded, but it still does not say that they will be co,pleted by the end of june, does it?
this is what I was trying to get clarification on, thats all.
God I wish I never asked now.
but this forum did pride itself on helping people with NTL and Telewest questions, when I first started here, but now I am not so sure......

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Apologies, but can someone tell me what the username and password is for NTL's 250 modem?

Exactly... They are both imprecise, why not say by the end of June rather than 'in the near future' & 'over the coming weeks'?
It's no wonder people are suspicious of NTL's intentions when they use weasel words...

Its not weasel words, just some people looking into things a bit to deeply and putting 2 & 2 together and making 5.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Here's a question. On 10meg I only ever got around 3-4 meg speed at best. I switched down to 2meg (in the thinking it was already 4meg) and now get around 1meg download speed. I am going to end up with roughly 2 meg when 4meg is introduced where I live?
It seems crazy as I would have expected that by switching down from 10 meg to 4meg, that I'd still get the 4meg I was getting while on 10meg. Does that make sense? But it seems that proportionally I am getting 50% of what the supposed speed is no matter what tier I am on.
Can that be right?

Your question has already been answered... That is 'near future' this answer won't change when I contact ntl to ask them when I was only given the original statement a day or two earlier.
And we still pride on helping folk if you don't mind so there is no need for you to be unsure.
|
yes that answer will not change, as you have pointed out, but I was only seeking clarification, after all I am also here for help and information, you as a team member should know that.

Totally unnecessary IMO.

very necessary I find, as there was not a reply to what I specifically asked, after all some other people also asked the same thing without much reply.
I still believe in my comments about the pride of the site. your replys to my posts give me this belief. (sorry but they just did, sorry if this offends you)
I find your comment about impressing you seems so much like a parent showing disgust to a child, I am sorry but I could not care less how impressed you were...... I was trying to get some info, which eventually I did get some sort of info.
I was surprised at the tone of your replys, but I never said anything about that, did I?
after reading back before posting this, I find that you looked into my posts deeper than I have. I never had a go at you (as said earlier), I was asking for the majority of the NTLHome 100 & 120 modem customers, which includes me, because there was not a straight enough answer for them.

haha, that gave me a laugh.. thanks.
in the near future is not an answer, it is something you tell your girlfriend to put off getting hitched, but she will be looking for a reall answer (sorry this analogy was crap, but you get my drift).

quite possibly yeah, I had that problem myself. Jan massive speed drop on 10meg so downgraded in feb to 2meg to find I only got 0.5meg to 1meg so reupgraded again to 10meg as I at least got 2-3 meg on that.
