cmd prompt

Anybody remember the cmd prompts for acquiring a new ip address? I remember CS helping me do this when connecting a new router.

Re: cmd prompt

Or you can do it the normal Windows (XP) GUI via Network Connections in Control Panel.

Disabling and re-enabling the connection will do it or hitting the repair button within the properties of the connection.

Dont forget, there are others too.. ie if you have a corrupted Resolver cache..

ipconfig /flushdns

Infact...

/all Display full configuration information.
/release Release the IP address for the specified adapter.
/renew Renew the IP address for the specified adapter.
/flushdns Purges the DNS Resolver cache.
/registerdns Refreshes all DHCP leases and re-registers DNS names
/displaydns Display the contents of the DNS Resolver Cache.
/showclassid Displays all the dhcp class IDs allowed for adapter.
/setclassid Modifies the dhcp class id.
