Looks like the NTL peeps have been taking advice from TW mail server techs now the merger has gone through

disabled norton.. still same problem

but this has happened in the past... so i assume its ntl.. i am in north-west london by the way!

can you telnet into your mail account?

from a cmd prompt type:
telnet pop.ntlworld.com 110 then enter. when (or if) you get the 'pop3 server ready' message..type in username 'now your username' and enter.
if succesfull type pass 'now your password' and enter
if the mail server is ok, you'll get a message 'username' is welcome here. the 'list' command will display any emails on the server

you might want to take a look at this thread too...someone else with the same problem, they too had disabled norton...but had to uninstall norton to resolve the problem http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ghlight=telnet
