Using Router with Cable Modem

Hello,
Currently i have 10mb connection and i am connecting to the internet via Ntl Cable Modem 250 using a laptop.
Since i have a D-link Wireless ADSL Router Model No. DSL-G604T and my laptop has wireless connectivity, i was wondering how can i use my router with the cable modem, if possible.
So i can use my laptop all over the house.
Plz Help if you can!

Re: Using Router with Cable Modem

to the forums.

The router you have there is an ADSL router and will not work.
What you need is a cable router.
The cable modem then plugs into the router and you connect each of your computers to the net via the router.

See HERE for a list of reccomended routers that will work with an NTL cable modem.

Re: Using Router with Cable Modem

Actually, if you're only wanting to have one PC connected you can set most ADSL routers up as wireless bridges, try looking for a bridge mode on your routers settings, my Belkin has this. When you've found it it might be worth giving yourself a static IP address and setting your default gateway and dns to point to the modem, whcih, will simply bypass the router and allow you to access the internet. Post if you need more detail.

Hence the suggestion of using the adsl router in bridge mode

Re: Using Router with Cable Modem

I have got the router to work with the modem.
Now, i am only having problem with using my laptop to connect via wireless instead of ethernet.
