Can't access router from my computer..

Hi there

Have a router in my housemates bedroom, it's connected to his computer wired, and mine through the wireless. I've done IPconfig and it says the router is 192.168.1.1 but I can't access it... I must have accessed it in the past to be able to put security on it, but it won't let me do it now. Heeeelp please!!

Re: Can't access router from my computer..

Yeah no good. Could a firewall on his computer be blocking me perhaps?

By "not being able to access it", I mean I can access the net through it, but I want to be able to open a few ports to play CM0102

Re: Can't access router from my computer..

Some routers have a setting which allows only wired access to the set-up screens....

Re: Can't access router from my computer..

I may be being daft, but if you can access the internet but not use specific ports is it possible the problem's a firewall on his 'puter blocking ports, not a router problem?

Re: Can't access router from my computer..

And if he has a proxy set, the likelihood is that he wont have set rules about what to bypass the proxy which will try and proxy ALL IPs, even ones on your internal network

Re: Can't access router from my computer..

In IE you can toggle the box for proxying local IPs, try that
