OK, just a couple of snippets of information I thought i'd put into the thread:

The IP address is typed in to the address bar of your web browser, not the start->run box, however if you want to open the modem config page this way you must include the http statement in the run box ie http://192.168.100.1.

Doing an IPCONFIG is going to do absolutely nothing to determine the level of service that your on.

To open a DOS from the start->run box the command on Windows NT, 2000, and XP is CMD, for WIndows 95, 98 and ME it is COMMAND.

Hope this helps,

Jon

Which modem do you have. If it's an Ambit 100/120/250, then it should work. That configuration page doesn't work with STB's & certain modems (3Com CMX & Terayon TeraJet for example).

Go to http://192.168.100.1 in a browser. When asked enter "root" for both the username and password. You can then navigate round the modem and check it is configured to 10Mbit.

what can i do its been like this for 3 months wehter day or night i get the same results on ntlhell forums adslreports ect sometimes as low as 0.3Mbps highest ever in 3 months was 3.8Mbps from ntlhell servers and that was a one off.should i call them surely i should get good speed sometimes.im under contract as well so cant cancel.please help.maybe they will discount me or charge the 4 meg price but let me keep the .5 meg upload????
Go to http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks and run the test java applet.

Then amend your MTU (should be 1500 for ntl) and change the RWIN to the recommended value, using the DrTCP application linked to.

This raised me from 5.5Mbps to 9.5Mbps on the speed test.

Re: my 2 meg to 10 meg upgrade lol

Posts are very hard to read, any chance you could write in English and not in a combination of phonetically / txt spk? You have a full QWERTY keyboard in front of you not a 12 button phone keypad I'm guessing and there's no SMS limit on characters per message so there's no real excuse to not type 'to' 'for' 'been' 'doesn't' 'hour' and other words in full and txt spk is rarely liked on online forums.

There is a guide on how to use DrTCP on the DSLreports.com site, if you actually go and visit the site and read the stuff on there you'll soon know what they are. Check them out.
