slow speeds

Last weekend i installed a network card as everytime i tried encoding whilst i was also downloading, when i had USB to ethernet converter on it crashed my PC, but now i am on ethernet cable only, i seem to have to reboot quite frequent. The other night i was downloading at approx 5k/sec, and struggling big time, so i turned pc off left for 5 switched back on and hey presto - 80+k/sec....

Any sugegstions as why this is now happening

Re: slow speeds

How are you connected? SACM or Cable Modem? Also have you any software firewalls running, router in the mix, background applications running?

Re: slow speeds

The cable goes direct to cable modem from ethernet connection on network card
Have a f-secure AV/Firewall running, but that doesnt seem an issue
And there has been nothing else put on the system since the card was installed

Re: slow speeds

Did you uninstall the USB driver for the modem/set top box, claret - and the ntl software if you installed that too?
