Unhappy Dlink DI-624 dropouts

I've been using this router fine for quite a while with no problems - but recently the the wireless connection seems to drop out every 3-4 minutes - I lose connection for 30-40 seconds and then it re-establishes. I've tried moving the laptop closer to see if it is a problem with signal strength but it seems to make no difference. I've checked the router log but it just shows the laptop reconnecting. It happens with more than one laptop.
I've only really noticed this since I upgraded to the 10meg service but this may be a coincidence. I upgraded the router firmware but this seemed to make no difference.
My other PC which is hard wired into the modem does not seem to have this problem.

any ideas?

I have an NTL120 modem - is there a log I can check on the modem to see if the problem lies there - if so, how do I check??

Re: Dlink DI-624 dropouts

I didn't think the NTL:120's could handle 10Mb to be honest.
It could be that the modem is losing connection and messing the router up, but i highly doubt it.

Have you looked in eventviewer on the laptops?
Goto Start > Run > eventvwr.msc

Then go to the system tab and look for erros relating to connections issues.

Re: Dlink DI-624 dropouts

The only tcp/ip message that relates to the dropouts says...

The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers.

I've also spotted a security even that happens at exactly the same time...

IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network interfaces on the machine. This can be a potential security hazard to the machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection as desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to further diagnose the problem.

Re: Dlink DI-624 dropouts

I also used to run a DI-624 router , and i initially had no problems , but then i got the cut outs and lack of connections you describe . Basically i rang Dlink , NTL who were both useless and even got a replacement from Dlink which just did the same . I flashed firmwares and did everything possible , still same thing happened ( Apparantly its a known problem ) .

Eventually I got rid of it and replaced by a Linksys WRT-54g which has been rocksolid for well over 12 months now ....... no cut outs , no disconnects . Faultless !!!!!
