NTL cable router with belkin access point (F5D7130)

Hello all!

I have a ntl cable router and today I bought a wireless access point (from belkin, model F5D7130). I connect to the router using the ethernet cable. Then, if I connect the ethernet from the router to the access point, who do I configure the access point (I have to set the MAC Address according to the instructions). The cable router only has one ethernet usb port and the access point only has one ethernet input, so how can I setup the access point (at 192.168.2.1). I tried to connect using a wireless usb adapter from my laptop and I can see the wireless network, but I can configure it though.
Any ideas? Am I missing something? Have I just bought the wrong thing?
Thanks!

Elmo

the piece of ntl equipment you are referring to- i believe that is a modem (if it was supplied by ntl it probably is). Is it branded ntl or Actiontec?

If it is ntl then this is your problem- you need a router rather than an access point.

Yes, I am afraid it is the ntl cable modem, provided by them. Then I need a cable wireless router I see, right? Just hoping not to buy again the wrong thing...
Thanks!
