Modem drops since Actiontec wireless router installed!

I am requesting some help regarding my Actiontec wireless network. Every since I connected and installed the wireless router, at various times my NTL modem drops its internet access and the only way to get access back seems to be through a complete system re-boot. This is quite frustrating as I keep my computer switched on all the time for peer to peer networking over the internet, obviously I cannot upload/download when access is dropped. When I connect my modem directly to my usb without using the router I do not have this problem. The router is all lit up fine when connected; the problem seems to occur when its connected to the modem. When it's working everything is great, but go out for a few hours and you come back in to a dropped internet connection on the modem, all the router lights appear o.k. and nothing but a reboot fixes the problem! Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Do these problems occur when you connect the modem directly with Ethernet?

Re: Modem drops since Actiontec wireless router installed!

Hi Zeth,

I have not tried using an ethernet connection, being a wireless newbie I thought I'd stick to keeping things simple and use the USB. The installation disk I got with the package started to get quite technical about installing via ethernet and basically scared me off trying it, do you think this could be a solution?

Re: Modem drops since Actiontec wireless router installed!

Following the periodic dropping of my internet access using the USB connection. I took the advice of the techies from Actiontec that I was asking too much of the USB connection and installed an Ethernet wired connection. I am still experiencing the same periodic dropping of my internet connection! Rebooting the router and the modem has no effect, only a full system reboot seems to work until it drops again. Helppppp!!!

Re: Modem drops since Actiontec wireless router installed!

hi also suffer from this problem with my wireless actiontec router, i cannot for the life of me figure it out, as my netgear me102 didnt have this problem. mine however resets once a day, normally as soon as i go to bed, the evil little critter.

also my signal strength is around 100% but the link quality normally hovers around 50%, which i cannot figure out as its on the other side of the wall and my wireless usb pen is pushed up against the same wall on my side of the house and its not that thick too.

help too !!!
